Tonight I have ordered my red jacket! I am so excited! Currently, I have two active team members and when you have two, you can order the jacket. Another one of my team members has told me she wants to start working in May. I have ordered the jacket so I have it in May. I am so proud of my team for being decisive women and taking steps to grow their businesses! I can’t thank them enough! (more…)
This pertains less to networking and more to team building, but the same concept applies. We have to take ourselves out of the picture. In my opinion, the focus should be on how can she benefit from signing a Mary Kay agreement; it should NOT be about the check the company will send and how big it will be. I find that those who are reluctant to build a team often feel some guilt like they are looking for walking paychecks, if my analogy makes any sense. I’ll admit, I felt weird about the whole recruiting thing at first. I joined MK for friendship, activity, and a little extra money. I didn’t even realize that signing up created income for someone else. I had no clue, really. My recruiter is an old friend, so it wasn’t bothersome to me at all and ultimately, I’m glad I did sign under her. (more…)
An important concept that I think hinders many of us in our attempts to talk to new potential customers (and team members) is that it’s not about us. It’s all about them. We tend to let ourselves get in the way. When we worry about how someone will react to us, we are really thinking about how that will affect us. I have changed my train of thought and projected it onto how she will benefit from trying MK, the fun to be had at an appointment, etc. If she says no, fine. And then I will ask, no not now, or no never? I want to be clear. No doesn’t always mean never. Sometimes it means not right now. If we ask, they will tell us. What we need to do is take ourselves out of the equation. (more…)
This weekend I’m traveling about an hour or so away from home in order to find new leads. Why? Why would I do this? It’s because I like to “think nationally.” You may have heard me say that before on my blog. It’s like thinking globally, but in MK-speak, that is nationally because one day, I would love to be an NSD. That is going to take me years. I’m not naive to that fact. But, when we make big goals, we have to be realistic when we are creating them and determining how much work it will take. (more…)
What makes a good director good? What makes a bad director so terrible? Sometimes the interpretation of good and bad is relative. What one person may perceive as a weakness, someone else may perceive as a strength. For instance, some directors have a good heart, but may lack in the organization area. To me, I would perceive her as a good director. Someone who works with her people, formulates relationships with her unit, and doesn’t give one notion that she views us as dollar signs. To me, that is a director I want to work with. She may be disorganized. For example, she may offer a prize and then time escapes her and when those who have earned the prize are ready to receive, it may be delayed. Some could get annoyed by this; especially if it happens often. My take, however, is prize mishaps are forgiveable. When I earn prizes, I’m usually not focused on what the prize is. Now and then, I am; however, for the most part I have my own set goals and I want to achieve those goals. If I happen to win something in the process, that’s a great bonus! If the prize is delayed or something happens where it changes, it doesn’t get me down. Some people are not like me and are upset when these things happen; understandably so. But, does disorganization necessarily make a director bad? It probably depends on your personality type. (more…)
It is the business of a Mary Kay® Independent Beauty Consultant to enrich women’s lives. We not only accomplish this through introduction of a great product. We do this by building our customers’ self esteem as well as our team. Anyone we put the product on is a potential team member. I’m not saying go out and recruit everyone you know. What I’m saying is, that in many cases, we are the only Mary Kay® people our customers know. How we behave is so important. If we are meeting a lot of people and working a full time business, we must be on our best behavior at all times. By doing this, it will ingrain that behavior into natural habit. That is what the Mary Kay® Image is all about. Not only looking good, but acting graciously. How we behave plants seeds in the thoughts of others as far as what Mary Kay® represents. Our actions not only impress upon our customers, but also our sister consultants! (more…)
