Daily Wins

Have a daily win. These are words I’ve heard from NSD Kathy Helou time and time again. What does that mean? What is a daily win? It’s essential to keep going in this business. If we don’t find a positive aspect in our businesses each day, we will lose the drive to keep going. Having a daily win is essential to staying focused and determined.

So, this is what I’m talking about: my current goal for November is 30 faces. I believe this will keep me on track for 3+3+3 program. The monthly goal needs to be broken down. So, I need to schedule to see 7-9 faces each week. Let’s say in week 1 I hold 3 classes and see 10 faces. In week 2 I have a class postpone and another cancel and I hold a facial. I have to hold onto that facial as a positive. If my daily goal is $100 in retail sales and I miss it one day and sell $40; rather than despair that I have “only sold” $40; and how could I have not sold $100. I need to embrace that small victory. That is a daily win! Had I not made the $100 goal, I most likely would have sold nothing. $40 is much better than $0!

Always get excited about the things you accomplish! Do not allow yourself to get caught up in what didn’t happen. This can cause business paralysis.

You Have to Want It

“You have to want it.” This was a sentence one of my dance instructors from the Cleveland Ballet uttered regularly. Having a talent and really wanting to achieve a goal can be completely unrelated. Success stems primarily from passion. If you’re not passionate about what you do, it doesn’t matter if you’re good at it. Eventually, the lackluster attitude will shine through and the talent will be overshadowed. This article from Get Motivation illustrates this concept marvelously:

How Much Do You Yearn?

Christopher Morley has said, “There are three ingredients in

the good life: learning, earning and yearning.” And yearning

can make up for a great lack in the other two. (more…)

Success Is Our Choice

To succeed or not to succeed is a choice we make on a regular basis. It doesn’t just happen accidentally. Having a goal to always give our best will lead to success. When one method doesn’t go as planned, find another way. This article illustrates this concept beautifully.

The Two Choices We Face

Each of us has two distinct choices to make about what we

will do with our lives. The first choice we can make is to

be less than we have the capacity to be. To earn less. To

have less. To read less and think less. To try less and

discipline ourselves less. (more…)

Know Your Worth

This article from Unitcoach.com is very true. I thought it was worth sharing:

“Is This What You’re Worth?”

Know the biggest difference between an employee and an entrepreneur? Exponential wealth building – that means the “rate of change.” On a graph, your curve of success will get steeper much faster as an entrepreneur. As an employee, it’s pretty straight and steady. (more…)

Make Practice Worthwhile

This article sheds new light on the concept of practicing any skill. Practicing for the sake of going through the motions is just that. Going through motions. In order to actually sharpen one’s skills, one must practice with gusto! Determining the weaknesses and working to improve them is what makes practice worthwhile until, finally, striving for perfection is the regular goal. Read on:

Normal Chaos

You have probably heard it said by someone wanting you to

repeat a monotonous activity that “practice makes perfect.”

As many times as you and I may have heard this, it is quite

simply not true. Practice does not make perfect. Practice

makes consistent. (more…)

Don’t Lose Focus

We have all encountered obstacles in running our businesses as well as in life. How we handle setbacks can be a determinant in our success. Maintaining focus on the initial goal can be a challenge when we are sidelined by illness, an accident, family drama, etc. The ability to rise above the turmoil and maintain focus on the task at hand, is golden. If you read about successful people, you will find that many of them perservered in spite of hardships they had to endure. Their concerns for the situation didn’t lessen nor did their determination of meeting the goal. I think at times, it seems that people who have strong ambitions in their professions are perceived by others as callous or uncaring when they are able to bounce back and continue their work once the initial shock as subsided. This is not the case. They simply have not lost focus:

Frog Tip #3 is the 80/20 rule. I have heard this not only from my director, but in other areas of life as well. The 80/20 rule is basically that 20% of your activity will produce 80% of your results. So, the small things count! Read on:
