Create a Strong Belief in Yourself

Your beliefs about yourself and your capabilities will

determine the quality of your life. It’s quite simple. What

you believe will dictate what you attempt to do which will,

in turn, determine what you experience. (more…)

Don’t Should On Yourself!

Have you ever thought about what you should have done? How about what you could have done? Have you ever thought “if only I would have done it this way?” This type of thinking comes from dwelling on past events. Events that cannot be changed now. Another phrase I have heard many utter is, “I should have never gotten involved in this in the first place!” OK. Perhaps not, but you did get involved. Rather than kick yourself over and over for making a choice that you now regret, realize the mistake and move toward change. The past can’t be changed. It is more productive to live in the present and plan for the future. The past is a reference point for making new decisions. It is not a mental warzone where we beat ourselves up over choices and decisions that may not have worked out! (more…)

Know When to Share Dreams

This was in my Get Motivation email this morning. I think it makes some excellent points. In MK I have heard people say to avoid negative people altogether. Well, what if that “negative” person is a family member? You can’t ditch them–they’re your family! This article has a much better message in my opinion.

Learn From All: Share Your Dream with Few

According to a close friend of mine, she keeps sharing her

dream (in this case we are defining a dream as an ultimate

business success goal) with people who call her “silly” and

otherwise put her down for having that dream.

I asked her, “why put yourself through that?” (more…)

Make Them Feel Important

I like this article. Where I work during the day, they are always stressing “world class service.” This concept is touched upon in here. This article stresses, “People don’t care how much I know until they know how much I care.” I’ve heard this statement over and over again in Mary Kay. It applies all the time.

The Little Things

We are all rushed and crunched for time in our world today;

therefore, anything you choose to do should be done with

your best effort or not at all. With so many

responsibilities and opportunities before each of us daily,

there is no time nor reason to be mediocre at anything.

Everyone understands the urgency of performing well in the

tasks they consider to be “big things,” but they too often

overlook matters they consider to be “little things.”

If you really analyze the areas of your life, either

personally or professionally, that you consider to be “big

things,” you will find, if you look closely enough, that

they are nothing more than a series or group of “little

things.”

You may run the best, most efficient business operation ever

known to mankind, but if your people don’t answer the phone

politely and professionally, or if they don’t invest the

time and energy to simply get people’s names right, you are

wasting your time.

Our most precious possession is our name. One of the

elements that distinguishes world class service from

standard service–whether it be business, dining, hotel,

transportation, etc.–is that the world class professionals

greet you politely, energetically, and use your name

correctly.

There is a certain group of business “experts” who believes

that in order to be successful we must practice

intimidation. While I disagree with this philosophy, there

is an amazing learning opportunity for us all within these

intimidation theories.

These adversarial intimidators would tell you that the best

way to “put someone down” or try to establish your own

superiority is simply to mispronounce or misuse their name.

The most amazing, thoughtful, meaningful, and significant

message can be diminished by a simple typographical error.

No matter how profound the words on the page may be, if they

contain sloppy errors, you may as well stamp the words in

bright red across the top of the page: “I really don’t care

very much about this.”

You’ve heard it said countless times, but it is as true

today as the first time you heard it. People don’t care how

much you know until they know how much you care. If you want

to show people how much you care, pay attention to the

little things, and you will find the big things take care of

themselves.

As you go through your day today, do everything as if it

alone will make the difference between success and failure.

You will find that it does.

Today’s the day!

We’ve ALL Got Potential!

I just love this:

Column By Matthew C. Horne

Realizing Your Potential

Potential, in a scientific sense, is viewed as stored

energy. I view potential, in the human sense, as stored

greatness.

Your energy is your greatest asset to unleashing your human

potential. When you dispense your energy into your

potential, that potential then becomes your reality.

Potential is useless if it never becomes a reality!

Everyone is full of potential… full of ideas and dreams

that only YOU can fulfill in this lifetime! Don’t ever take

for granted the compliments from others concerning your

gifts and abilities. Often times your potential is evident

to others before you ever take notice of it.

Cultivate your gifts so your potential will thrive. This is

the most competitive era in history. Potential doesn’t cut

it, only reality!

I had a teammate in college who was an All-American

basketball player. He said “There are people in my

neighborhood who are better than all of us in this game of

basketball, but we’re here. This is a privilege.”

That was a thought-provoking and enlightening statement. It

made me ask the question: How did we make it to the most

elite stage that college basketball has to offer (Division

I), while others, with more talent and ability went no

further than the neighborhood courts?

The answer: We took the steps to cultivate our potential and

give it the right conditions for it to thrive.

If I could leave you with one thought, it would be this:

Cultivated potential is what makes it to the bright lights!

____________

This is so true! There are so many people who fail to realize their own potential. It is up to the individual to recognize what one possesses and maximize it!

17 Words That Changed My Life Forever

by Jerry Clark

I remember several years back I heard something that changed my life forever. Up until that point I had been struggling through life, doing everything the hard way. I couldn’t figure out why my life wasn’t going the way I felt it should be. I saw some people going through life effortlessly and seemingly with less tension and frustration while I was wondering if I could ever straighten out the mess my life had turned out to be. I was behind on my dreams, my promises, and my bills. Then one day I was listening to a tape and the lady was talking about the power of having dreams and goals and all of the other stuff that those motivational speakers talk about. By that point I had listened to hundreds of such tapes, but it seemed as if nothing worked for me. Probably the only reason I was listening to that one was because I had developed a habit of listening to cassette tapes while driving my car. The statement the lady said was simple and I think I had even heard it somewhere before but this time a light bulb went on in my head. I remember stopping the tape and rewinding it over and over again to hear the 17 words she said. I couldn’t believe it was so basic and simple. (more…)
