Prioritize!

This installment had a lot of typos in it. Hopefully, I’ve corrected them all. ;) This is really good for managing time and determining which tasks are most important, what can be done by someone else, and what can wait til another time. (more…)

Weighing the Consequences

I’m getting caught up with these frog tips! This article has some MK related examples in it. It is important to think about the outcome in making a decision to act. Think of the positive potential outcomes and use that as motivation to actually complete the task. Perform the task based upon the potential positive outcome rather than making excuses to abandon the task altogether. (more…)

80/20 Rule

Frog Tip #3 is the 80/20 rule. I have heard this not only from my director, but in other areas of life as well. The 80/20 rule is basically that 20% of your activity will produce 80% of your results. So, the small things count! Read on:

TIP 3—EAT THAT FROG!

Apply the 80/20 Rule to Everything

(thoughts from author, Brian Tracy—with some LQ thoughts thrown in!)

This rule is often referred to as the “Pareto Principle”, (more…)

Planning the Work

I started this series quite some time ago. I forgot all about it! I’ll catch you up. My director has been posting these on her website. It’s called “Eat That Frog!” and it comes from Brian Tracy. This little lesson is about making a list and working the plan through. Sound familiar? :) (more…)

Separating Work and Family Time in a Home Office

Found this article on Ideas for Women. How many of us have trouble setting boundaries with our families regarding business time and family time? I for one am still trying to help my husband understand that even though I have a full-time day job, I view MK as my part-time job. It is so difficult making it clear that I take it seriously as a business endeavor. He calls it “playing with makeup.” OK. It is. But guess what? It pays! He also says my day job is just “playing on the internet…” Uh…yea…riiiight. As you can see there can be issues as to how a spouse or other loved one perceives one’s career choices and/or business endeavors. This has been a long-time struggle for me. I think this article that follows is awesome. I am, however, open to any suggestions out there from those with experience! :) Please, share! :D (more…)

Balance

This is a long article, but it so says what I am trying to portray in my blog(s). Originally, when I started this blog, I wanted to include everything in one blog to illustrate that life has many different defining aspects for each individual. What I have learned is that in order to truly balance one’s life, these all must be managed separately. At least, for me they do. :) My point is, you can’t eat, sleep, and breathe one thing all the time or you will drive others away. Sometimes, we have to do that to reach a certain goal. I used to eat, sleep, and breathe ballet. I wouldn’t call it obsession. It was more like strong determination. And dance instructors will drive you and drive you especially if they see you have potential. (Does this sound like something else? Anyone? Anyone?) I may elaborate more on this at another time. For now, please enjoy this article about balancing life. :D (more…)

Creating Your Vision

1046745356_62345da40f_m.jpg In 2004 I attended my first and only Seminar. During the course of the event, I noticed a theme in many of the speeches and training that I heard. One speech that really stuck with me over the past few years was that of NSD Anne Newbury. In her speech, Anne spoke of having a strong vision as far as what she wanted from her business. Her speech struck a cord with me. After hearing her speak, I noticed she was not the only person to speak on this concept. Many of those honored that year made similar points in their speeches. Beating Procrastination

The biggest obstacle I face in my business is procrastination. I am notorious for putting off today what can be done tomorrow. Sound familiar? Shouldn’t it be why not do today what could be put off til tomorrow? I think the biggest problem I have is fear and the fear pushes me to make excuses why I don’t really have to call anyone right now; or why it can wait til tomorrow. Do you know how many customers I have probably dis-serviced? Probably many. (more…)

Keeping It Positive In Negative Situations

Boy do I need this! I’m glad I found this on Life Tools for Women.

Staying Positive in a Negative Environment

by Julie Fuimano, Executive Coach

One of the most difficult things to do as leaders is stay positive when everyone else around us is negative. It’s not easy to maintain a positive attitude and not be drained or consumed by the negativity that surrounds you. But as a leader, that’s exactly what you must do. You have the opportunity to be the beacon of light for others around you. You can demonstrate and teach by your actions and responses how to behave in an appropriate, positive and professional manner.

Clothes Create Credibility

I found this article on Fashion for Real Women. This is such a great article! So many people in MK get upset when they have to dress up a little. I’ll admit, I sometimes gripe about it myself; but it is so important to understand how image affects credibility! We work in the cosmetics business–of course we have to look the part! This is why the company originally wanted consultants to wear pantyhose. It was not to make us miserable. It was to make us credible. This article is perfect for home-based business owners of all trades. :)

What To Wear

When You Work From Home

What should you wear when you work from home?

It’s a question I’m asked frequently in my image consultanting business, and one that bears thoughtful consideration. For just as your appearance matters when you report to work in the “outside” world, so, too, does it matter when your commute is just down the hall.

Now before you snicker at this notion, let’s get a bird’s eye view of the matter. (more…)
