I Survived NaBloPoMo

This will be my final post tagged “NaBloPoMo.” I have proven that I can write a post a day for 30 days. I’m not quit sure what kind of accomplishment that is exactly; but it’s been fun. :) Thank you for all who were reading in suspense to see if I would actually pull through and post every day of November. I have done the unthinkable!

Enjoy December! :D

It’s Not About You, Really, It Isn’t (Part 2)

This pertains less to networking and more to team building, but the same concept applies. We have to take ourselves out of the picture. In my opinion, the focus should be on how can she benefit from signing a Mary Kay agreement; it should NOT be about the check the company will send and how big it will be. I find that those who are reluctant to build a team often feel some guilt like they are looking for walking paychecks, if my analogy makes any sense. I’ll admit, I felt weird about the whole recruiting thing at first. I joined MK for friendship, activity, and a little extra money. I didn’t even realize that signing up created income for someone else. I had no clue, really. My recruiter is an old friend, so it wasn’t bothersome to me at all and ultimately, I’m glad I did sign under her. (more…)

This Tagging Thing!

I’m very popular apparently and Accountable and Mercedes tagged me recently.  Here are the rules of this particular meme: Link to the person that tagged you, and post the rules on your blog.  Share 7 facts about yourself.  Tag 7 random people at the end of your post, and include links to their blogs.   Let each person know that they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog. I’ll be up front that I am breaking the rules as most of my taggees are already tagged!

  1. I have no clue what a meme is. I think I’ll live in suspense.
  2. I was nameless for one week. My parents figured since all my dad’s siblings had  boys first, they would, too. They had no girl names chosen. I was “Baby Girl” for a week — no joke!
  3. I studied with the Joffrey Ballet.
  4. If I could live anywhere of my choosing I’d live in South Carolina near Myrtle Beach; my favorite vacation spot.
  5. My first pet that wasn’t a goldfish was a box turtle. [picture coming soon]
  6. 005_2a.jpgMy first dog was a mini schnauzer and he lived almost 16 years!
  7. Sometimes, I miss living in NYC.

Just Silly

Today I was checking my “Blog Stats” and in there it shows me what keywords people used to find my site. Today’s winner takes the cake for strange:

“cocaine books pink”

Yup, someone found my blog by typing in the word cocaine. That is just bizarre, but it made me laugh.

It’s Not About You (Part 1)

An important concept that I think hinders many of us in our attempts to talk to new potential customers (and team members) is that it’s not about us. It’s all about them. We tend to let ourselves get in the way. When we worry about how someone will react to us, we are really thinking about how that will affect us. I have changed my train of thought and projected it onto how she will benefit from trying MK, the fun to be had at an appointment, etc. If she says no, fine. And then I will ask, no not now, or no never? I want to be clear. No doesn’t always mean never. Sometimes it means not right now. If we ask, they will tell us. What we need to do is take ourselves out of the equation. (more…)

Networking 101: How Far Will You Go?

This weekend I’m traveling about an hour or so away from home in order to find new leads. Why? Why would I do this? It’s because I like to “think nationally.” You may have heard me say that before on my blog. It’s like thinking globally, but in MK-speak, that is nationally because one day, I would love to be an NSD. That is going to take me years. I’m not naive to that fact. But, when we make big goals, we have to be realistic when we are creating them and determining how much work it will take. (more…)

Postponement!

Well, my class for today has postponed. I’m working to get it rescheduled for December 8. I have a big booth event next Saturday and Sunday. I’m excited about it, but wary at the same time. My friend set it up for me. The event is a bit out of my locale, however, I like to think nationally when it comes to travel. I think I’m going to write a more in depth post about these events later today. For now, I do have some errands to run! :)

Big MK Day Tomorrow

Tomorrow afternoon I have a skin care class. This will be my first class since April! I’m nervous and excited. I want it to go well. There should be about 7 people there. I am going to give my hostess friend 20% off her order. I am going to offer the mini Satin Hands set to anyone who orders the Basic. If sales reach $200, I will also allow the hostess to choose one of the company hostess prizes–I have a few to choose from. In order to create incentive for bookings, I’m going to offer 50% off color cosmetics at the follow up appointments. (more…)
