No Mary Kay post today. Hubby and I were at the Browns game. They lost, sadly, but Brady Quinn is a great quarterback! Write more soon!

This has been a long time coming. I have been wanting to share what I have changed in my business to get the better results I’ve been experiencing since July. There is a combination of different factors that led to my productivity. The biggest has been consistency. However, before one can be consistent, one must have tasks to do consistently. I was always stuck about being consistent because I never seemed to have enough leads to work with (or so I thought). There was also the problem of me getting stuck in my own head listening to what some call “the committee” rumbling and grumbling about all that goes wrong and ignores what goes right. Recently, I have quieted that committee and found some confidence in myself and in my business. Know what I did? I figured out how to get leads! (more…)
Because I’m blogging daily this month and I want to have material, I’m trying some new things. One thing I’m doing is a Tuesday Meme called Tempt My Tummy Tuesday. It’s a weekly recipe hosted by Blessed with Grace.
I used to have a page called “The Kitchen,” but it didn’t seem to fit. I always wanted this site to be about balancing life and a home based business and I’m trying to come back to that original theme. Doing this should help get me in that direction. Instead of having a page for recipes, I’m going to have a new category called none other than, “The Kitchen!” I’m starting with one of my favorite recipes even though I’m not much of a steak person. My husband likes this one lots. If you want to participate, go check out Blessed with Grace! (more…)
Since the holidays are literally just around the corner it is time to think about holiday selling and still working through the hussle and bustle of the holiday season. I’ll admit, in the past I have always been intimidated by November and December. The first year I was working my business I did a craft bazaar at a church and when I called the leads many were too busy due to holiday plans. This year (5 years later) is different! For the first time I am READY for the season and will take control of the situation. (more…)
Wow! I’ve been away a long time. I apologize for my extended absence. On the one hand, I was busy working my business!
On the other hand, I was also dealing with CFS. Basically, I’ve been working my business consistently since July and the extra oomph has been wearing me out when coupled with my day job. Fortunately, I have put myself on a vitamin regimen and made some simple lifestyle changes (more sleep) and I’ve come out of my little funk. It’s great to be back!

More and more I am finding it so important to have power partners. I have a few. Some are online power partners while others are people I see in the three dimensional world.
Both are so important! It is always good to have people build you up when you are feeling weak. This is also why our weekly meetings are so important. The unit should be just that: a unit of support! Going to my meeting lifts me up after a hard day at the office. If something at home is more pressing, I don’t go; but I do try to go every week. (more…)
Thank you, to Pink Bren who emailed me these great Web Hostess emails! Pink Bren, I’m sorry for not responding. For some reason the first email you sent was in my spam. It’s not in spam anymore!
Feel free to use these and/or moderate them to make them your own! (more…)
Tonight I had my weekly MK meeting. This was our monthly S.O.S. event held at a local Holiday Inn. During the first week of each month, we have a larger event joining 4 to 6 units together for motivation and training. These are always fun because we see people we don’t always get to see and we hear from directors that we don’t hear week after week. The variety is good!
One of the highlights of tonight’s meeting was receiving the new Look Book. If you have not seen it yet, you will love it! It is made to resemble a fashion magazine. It has headlines on the cover, a table of contents on the first two pages, and it’s filled with bright photographs. The new products are easy to see in this book. It’s a very colorful publication. Another new item I saw at the meeting was the new Hostess Brochure! It is oblong like the new Girl’s Guide to Glamor Brochure. The new Hostess Brochure features current hostess gifts (it appears the current quilted makeup bag trio remains an option) and appointment options. I wish I’d had my camera! I would have taken pictures of the display table to share here! My bad. I apologize! (more…)
As promised I am writing about my experience providing makeup for a dance recital.
What a rewarding experience! The recital was held in the theater where I danced when I was age 6 to 13. I also participated in musical theatre there every summer. It was such a trip down memory lane! It seemed as though nothing had changed in there for 20 years! My high school class also used that stage for graduation since our high school had no auditorium and no air conditioning in the gym. Oh the memories!
There were 5 of us doing the makeup for the girls. This was a good number. There were lots of girls! The age range was 3 to 13! The dance instructors told us most of the girls would be in the basement. Two of us went to the basement, myself included. The youngest dancers were getting ready in the basement. My first makeup recipient was a 3 year old. She had been overcome with stagefright during rehearsal. Her mom told her she could wear makeup as long as she wouldn’t cry on stage again. She was a doll! Yesterday, my order with the new compacts and mineral makeup arrived. My business is based primarily on my skin care sales, so I wasn’t expecting much from the makeup in all honesty. I like to wear makeup, though, so I bought myself the new compact and glamor items. I ordered 2 compacts: one for the new pressed mineral powder and one for makeup. I also am keeping them packaged in the boxes so I can keep them nice and show them to my customers. My first impression of the compact: sleek! The look very nice and I like the size. The old platinum Custom Compact was convenient as far as storing items, but a little impractical for travel. The new compacts fit nicely into a purse. The sheen to the compact is very nice and it is easy to finger print up. My husband was even impressed with the appearance. I put my things inside it and showed him and he said it was “pretty cool.”
Today I’m wearing my new mineral makeup for the first time. The palette I chose consists of: (more…)
