Today I had a voice message from Mary Kay, Inc. In addition to calling them, I also sent an email. The phone call was in response to my email. I think the message was pretty straightforward and explanatory:
There is no lead added to any products. It is against FDA regulations to do so. Lead, however, is everywhere. It is a natural element found in water. No lead is added to any Mary Kay® products, but traces may be found because lead is found just about everywhere in the natural environment. Therefore, lead is not listed as an ingredient on any products because it is not deliberately added as an ingredient.
The bottom line is this: lead is everywhere and it is unavoidable. There are FDA regulations in place that prevent any additional lead content to be added to any product meant for human consumption. The media likes to create drama and hype by using scare tactics. Lead is in the water we drink every day, for Pete’s sake! There isn’t much that we can do to avoid contact with lead except to not add any more to our manufactured goods. Mary Kay, Inc. ensures that all of its products are safe by hiring toxicologists to test for any harmful elements. I don’t think we could ask for anything more.
Lately there has been a lot of media hype about lead in lipsticks. There are several emails in circulation regarding this issue. MK Rules has an excellent and informative article on her site. Thanks, MK Rules!
I received the emails claiming Mary Kay lipstick has zero lead in it. Not wanting to give out any incorrect info, I called Mary Kay, Inc. and asked about it. Here is what they told me: (more…)
Last night at my meeting I got some great training and tips on this fabulous product! The Targeted Action Line Reducer is designed to offer both instant and long-term effects. It plumps the skin in the face where lines occur within 10 minutes and also aids in the disappearance of those lines over time! Amazing! But there are some things you should know: (more…)
It is so important to be familiar with MK’s order of application. I have heard many variations on when to apply what. This is directly from InTouch. It used to be on our PWS’s as well, but I don’t see it there anymore: (more…)
With the arrival of Targeted Action Eye Revitalizer, I’ve decided to revisit the Know Your Product Series. I have been using the Eye Revitalizer since Friday night when mine arrived. I love it. It feels great — nice and cooling. I will continue in the body of this posting:
Time Wise® Targeted-Action™ Eye Revitalizer: This product is designed to diminish the appearance of dark circles under the eyes while reducing puffiness in the eye area. It is interchangeable with Indulge Soothing Eye Gel, however, the Indulge will not have any affect on dark circles and is a temporary fix whereas the Eye Revitalizer has long term effects. (more…)
Well, it certainly has been a long time since I started the “Know Your Product” posts! I’m up tonight with lots of time on my hands so I’m going to dive right back in!
Masks
The primary function of a mask is to exfoliate the skin. Masks are part of the Classic Basic Skin Care line. This does not mean, however, that they cannot be paired with Time Wise. I use the Revitalizing Mask one in awhile to get a fresh feeling for my skin. I want to give the Clarifying Mask a shot one of these days as well. (more…)
It is essential to moisturize after cleansing. When you wash your face, the water evaporates which causes dryness to the skin. By following up with moisturizer, the moisture of the water is locked into the skin. In addition to the face, moisturizer should be applied to the throat and chest area to prevent aging of these areas. The director who gave me this training says, “Skin care to the bra-line; color cosmetics to the jawline.” So now here we go! Jumping right in with Moisture. (more…)
I’m going to start this series with the basics. It’s important to know what the skin care line does and what products work best for different skin types and conditions. This will help answer questions when people have rosacea, eczema, or other skin problems and what MK products can be recommended. (more…)
I want to have a section on Product Knowledge. I’m not sure if I’m going to make it a post or a page. I’ll start with a post. Actually, I think I will make it a category and I will make different posts in the “Know Your Product” category about different aspects of the product line. For example, one will cover uses, one will cover application, one will be about makeup tips, etc. Yes, I think I like that idea.
