So, I *finally* got the new foundations and foundation primer from Mary Kay®. I am happy to report that the conversion chart I followed to find the right shade was accurate. The Ivory 3 in the new age-fighting stuff is pretty much identical to Ivory 104 in the previous formula. I’m happy that, at this point, the medium-coverage foundations are stickin’ around. I touch up with Ivory 202 so I don’t look red in the cheeks. One less change I have to make!
The new primer wasn’t what I was expecting. It’s a clear gel-like substance. It goes on smoothly and doesn’t require much at all. I think it does help foundation go on better, but I think I put too much primer on because I can sort of see it by my eyes. Weird. I’ll see what I can do to fix that tomorrow.
Overall, I’m happy with these new products. The foundation feels very light. I think it’s definitely a lighter feel than the full-coverage foundation it is replacing. I love that the Time Wise™ complex is in it!
I’ve been playing with the color quad GWS from last year. In case you don’t remember, it consisted of Silky Caramel, Lemongrass, Amber Blaze, and Denim Frost. This week, mk4me posted pics of her daughter’s prom makeup over on Balanced. It inspired me to try something. (more…)
After sharing my way of applying the Urban Bazaar eye look, I decided to go to my website and check out the recommended application of this look. It’s a lot different! To be honest, I don’t like how it looks on me. Not that it’s wrong or bad; I just like to see more of a blending of the colors. The description online is more of a way of lining the eyes. There are a couple of looks done this way lately. It’s a new trend. I’m not sure it’s a trend I’m going to follow regularly, but who knows. I have to decide what look to try next! (more…)
I’ve decided to try the different eye looks featured in each issue of The Look. Today I’m featuring Urban Bazaar. I’ve been wearing these colors for a few days now and I really love how they look. I used to think Navy Blue was too dark for me, but when blended properly it’s not that dark at all. (more…)
Thursday my order arrived with the newest spring Coastal Colors collection and it is so pretty! I wore them all weekend! I learned from my roommate and new friend a great way to wear them to get a dramatic effect and I am going to share because it was pretty easy to pull off! You really need to use brushes to accomplish this and it is so worth it! Well, if you love experimenting with makeup like I do, you will agree. (more…)
Our teen and preteen (’tweens) guests on Monday night received a lesson in skin care and how to apply age appropriate makeup. Those notes follow. I copied from my director’s email: (more…)
It’s time for this week’s edition of Fight the Frump hosted by Mrs. Fussypants’Blog. Each installment will have a list of different things I do to keep myself feeling sassy. (more…)
It’s been a long time since I’ve participated in Fight the Frump with Fussypants. I’m back; for now, anyway. I had to think about what I wanted to write about for avoiding frumpiness and since it is turning cold out and winter is fast approaching — I mean we had snow today — the sun is going away. Some of you might have a nice tan from being out in the sun’s rays. I’m not so fortunate. I’m always pale. Sometimes I’m a darker shade of pale, but pale nonetheless. (more…)
Guess what! In case you weren’t already aware, the Compact Pro is now available to order! I will be taking advantage of this soon. I saw it at my meeting last night and it looks very nice and a little smaller than the old Color Palette. It’s a few dollars less, too.
This week for Fight the Frump with Fussypants I’m talking about the dreaded eye shadow crease! You all know what I’m talking about. You apply your eye makeup pristinely in the morning and by noon there is a thin line of color amid a bare patch in your eyelid crease. It’s unsightly, isn’t it? I have some suggestions that will make that problem history. (more…)
