Makeover for Me!

I have been dying for a haircut for months now. My hair is kind of long now.  When it gets this long it tends to look stringy and thin. I have ultra-fine hair. It doesn’t help that my underactive thyroid causes hair loss. I want something dramatic and I think I want to change the color, too. I’m thinking highlights; blonde highlights. My husband wants me to go totally blonde, but my fair skin might not work with blonde hair. My mom goes to a new hair stylist now and I think I’m going to try her out. Color is her specialty. I’ll have to see.

The other night, hubby and I were watching TV. I have no idea what we were watching, but at one point, they were talking about Victoria Beckham. I am not a Spice Girls fan by any stretch, but they showed her new haircut and I really like it.victoria_beckham300.jpg I think I could pull off the cut. I don’t want the blonde hair, but I could totally do the style and instead of going all blonde, I would go for chunky blonde highlights!

It would be the shortest I’ve ever had my hair. Maybe I’d have just a little more length on the sides and in the back, but I don’t know. My hair tends to grow fast. I’m really tempted to be very daring here. Hubby will probably be very disappointed. Being the typical man he is, he prefers long hair. I like long hair, but about once a year I like to chop it off. I’m thinking this would be a good look for me in 2008!

Is Winter Drying Out Your Skin?

I have some solutions for dry skin woes in winter. I’ve been suffering from it recently. Granted, it’s not freezing cold just yet, but the air is dryer and with a woodburner in the house, my face is not getting enough moisture for sure! I’ve been trying all different things and what works for me may not work for you, but I do have some suggestions you can try. :) (more…)

What Makeup Can Do for You

This came to me on email from my director. What a great article! Not only should we apply this to our own appearances, but it certainly validates our roles as salespeople in the cosmetics industry!

Thought is was worth passing along. Professional Cosmetic Application could

increase your pay by 20%!

I am going to read this at every class in the beginning….

To put it simply, makeup works. It’s a tool we can use to our advantage. More than a

method of covering complexion imperfections, it’s a form of communication, a means of

telegraphing to the world who we are and what we think.

Clothes Create Credibility

I found this article on Fashion for Real Women. This is such a great article! So many people in MK get upset when they have to dress up a little. I’ll admit, I sometimes gripe about it myself; but it is so important to understand how image affects credibility! We work in the cosmetics business–of course we have to look the part! This is why the company originally wanted consultants to wear pantyhose. It was not to make us miserable. It was to make us credible. This article is perfect for home-based business owners of all trades. :)

What To Wear

When You Work From Home

What should you wear when you work from home?

It’s a question I’m asked frequently in my image consultanting business, and one that bears thoughtful consideration. For just as your appearance matters when you report to work in the “outside” world, so, too, does it matter when your commute is just down the hall.

Now before you snicker at this notion, let’s get a bird’s eye view of the matter. (more…)

Steps to Self Confidence

I found this article from Pick the Brain. I think it’s great for not only confidence, but also image. Because, after all, looking good and feeling good go hand in hand.

10 Ways to Instantly Build Self Confidence

by: John Wesley

Self confidence is the difference between feeling unstoppable and feeling scared out of your wits. Your perception of yourself has an enormous impact on how others perceive you. Perception is reality — the more self confidence you have, the more likely it is you’ll succeed.

Image Is Everything

OK. There seems to be debate about what construes “professional attire.” I am sure most of the readers on these blogs are savvy. I just want to say my piece and get it out there. ;) I have seen plenty of people wear really odd things as “business professional.” I’ll start by posting what is on Intouch: (more…)

I Think I Need a Makeover

Today I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror at work and I was not pleased with what I saw. ( I look pretty rough, to put it mildly. The stress of these past few months have really left me raggedy. My hair has grown out quite a bit, which my husband likes. I think my hair is stringy and needs cut. I haven’t been wearing makeup. I don’t even add it during the day anymore. I have a “what’s the point?” kind of attitude right now. I used to get this way pre-Mary Kay days. In light of all that’s been happening I actually feel guilty about trying to work my business. Can you believe that? It’s a business that will help us financially, but because I enjoy it, I feel guilt. What is going on???

I really need to get my MK image going again. That will make me want to get out there and work it more. I have customers to call. I need to just do it anyway! Time to get motivated again! I feel a BIDIA coming on…

An Introduction to Glamour

The following is taken from notes compiled at a “Color Clinic” my directors hold a couple times a year. Our Color Clinics reference Robert Jones’ book and DVD “Beaute Made Simple.” I still want to get this book one of these days. I heard Robert Jones has released 2 new books this year. This is lengthy for an intro, however, it gives an overview of eyes, lips, cheeks, face shape, foundation shades, and concealor. It is from my director’s unitnet site. I can’t make the font any larger. I apologize. :(
