Wow! I’ve been away a long time. I apologize for my extended absence. On the one hand, I was busy working my business! On the other hand, I was also dealing with CFS. Basically, I’ve been working my business consistently since July and the extra oomph has been wearing me out when coupled with my day job. Fortunately, I have put myself on a vitamin regimen and made some simple lifestyle changes (more sleep) and I’ve come out of my little funk. It’s great to be back! (more…)
“People with goals succeed, and those without goals fail. Define your goals. Then write your goals down along with a specific plan for accomplishing them. Break the long-term goal into a series of little goals, each attainable with a specific timeframe. As the saying goes, ‘You can eat an elephant one bite at a time.’” –Mary Kay Ash
For better understanding of goals, let’s break it down. I’m going to use an example. I think it is a good example and everyone should have this particular goal. The numbers can be different. What I am doing is breaking down a Seminar year sales goal into pieces.
I’m going to dissect my Seminar 2009 goal. Here is the breakdown: (more…)
Back on my topic about goal posters, it came up that many of us (myself included) have trouble with tracking. This is the first quarter I’m tracking my goals. Yes, after five years in this business, I’m going to do some tracking and see where I land. I’m tracking many things. The first thing I’m focusing on is, of course, my sales. I’m committed to selling $3000 retail in August. I’m off to a good start. I have a silent hostess out and I sold $60 this weekend. I’m working on getting more silent hostesses out there. (more…)
Tonight our unit had a potluck dinner at my director’s house instead of a regular meeting. We did this to go over last year’s accomplishments and the new year’s goals. We were asked to bring our goal posters if we had them. I found this to be the perfect opportunity to grab my magnetic dry erase board and get that put together again. It’s an effortless goal poster. My director and friends had really nice posterboards with pictures and such pasted to them. I am not so good with glue. I love that I can just move stuff around and not have to throw the whole thing out and start from scratch. How very…green? (more…)
This comes a little late in the month, I know. July is the start of the new fiscal year and in MaryKayland, that is also the start of our Seminar contest year. Every year we talk about new goals and getting a fresh start on the new year. In the past I’ll admit it was all fun and games and everything kinda went in one ear and out the other. Yes, I made some goals, but I didn’t see any urgency so I didn’t really go for them. It’s been just about five years since I signed my agreement to take up a new hobby. Back then I just wanted a hobby and didn’t see any reason to pursue my business any further than that. There is nothing wrong with that. I think this is how many if not most consultants get started. I think that is fine. It allows freedom to work how they want. I’m glad for that. These past two years have made me rethink my approach to my hobby and I have decided to work the business aspect more. As I was making this transition I realized, “Hey! It’s July! The new year is just starting. What fabulous timing!” So, I have some very lofty goals. (more…)
This article comes from Get Motivation. This is one thing I love about Mary Kay. It allows us the time to try different paths. With no quotas on us to weigh us down, we can work at our own pace. Enjoy the article: (more…)
With the new year upon us, I just want to wish each and every one of you a happy and prosperous new year in 2008! I am working on my goals. My big goal is to be DIQ by March. I want to be a free driving director by June 30! I want to go to Seminar this year. I told my director Seminar is like the Olympics with me — I’ll go every 4 years! I went in 2004 and to be honest, I wasn’t real impressed. I decided it might be more enjoyable if I had accomplished something huge like car qualification and/or directorship. (more…)
I’ll be the first to admit that I am not an organized individual by any stretch. For some reason, however, my director and her director perceive me as an organized person. To what do I owe this status? I think it comes solely from time management training I’ve had from them and from owning my Mary Kay datebook. Since joining Mary Kay Cosmetics, I have become far more skilled at time management. I do think part of it stems from my busy childhood. I always had lessons of some sort–piano lessons, ballet, gymnastics, and horseback riding, to name a few. This caused my thinking to shift to things I have to do each day and how to fit everything else into place. (more…)
