This weekend I’m traveling about an hour or so away from home in order to find new leads. Why? Why would I do this? It’s because I like to “think nationally.” You may have heard me say that before on my blog. It’s like thinking globally, but in MK-speak, that is nationally because one day, I would love to be an NSD. That is going to take me years. I’m not naive to that fact. But, when we make big goals, we have to be realistic when we are creating them and determining how much work it will take. (more…)
Realistically speaking, I think I have to rethink my DIQ agenda. I stated I want to submit DIQ in December. Given my lack of bookings coming through for November, I don’t know if that’s realistic. I’m still charging for it full speed ahead, however, I’m making plans to what to do next if I don’t meet it. I have 2 bookings for November. I’m not sure I’ll even get the 30 faces, but I’m surely going to try! I’m going to work right through the holiday season and see where I wind up. Perhaps I’ll be submitting in January. My definitive goal is to debut as a director by Career Conference. If I keep my current momentum, I can see that happening for real!
I believe in the adage “goals are written in stone; deadlines are written in sand.” Is this giving up? Certainly not! It’s simply planning ahead and making room for the success! My goal is my goal no matter what. When that goal comes to fruition may change. All I can do is work at it as hard as I can and keep building results. I’ll get it done! Maybe not as early as planned, but it will happen!
Well, I have officially informed my director of my DIQ by December goal! I’m excited and scared (but that’s what good goals are supposed to do, right?). I definitely have the urgency and I’m already started down the booking path. I have an appointment next Thursday. Yay! I have some other interested customers. I’ve been taking orders. Next step–interviews! I have made my goal known to friends and family. Here is what my director had to say: (more…)
What makes a good director good? What makes a bad director so terrible? Sometimes the interpretation of good and bad is relative. What one person may perceive as a weakness, someone else may perceive as a strength. For instance, some directors have a good heart, but may lack in the organization area. To me, I would perceive her as a good director. Someone who works with her people, formulates relationships with her unit, and doesn’t give one notion that she views us as dollar signs. To me, that is a director I want to work with. She may be disorganized. For example, she may offer a prize and then time escapes her and when those who have earned the prize are ready to receive, it may be delayed. Some could get annoyed by this; especially if it happens often. My take, however, is prize mishaps are forgiveable. When I earn prizes, I’m usually not focused on what the prize is. Now and then, I am; however, for the most part I have my own set goals and I want to achieve those goals. If I happen to win something in the process, that’s a great bonus! If the prize is delayed or something happens where it changes, it doesn’t get me down. Some people are not like me and are upset when these things happen; understandably so. But, does disorganization necessarily make a director bad? It probably depends on your personality type. (more…)
