Party with a Purpose

At Seminar it was announced that the new focus of appointments is not skin care classes. We’re partying it up! LOL The philosophy is that people are having butter and hot dog parties so they may need one of our parties! Party with a Purpose works on so many levels because we can benefit the Mary Kay Foundation, we help other women take care of their skin, we help them feel good about how they look, and we are building our businesses in the process! It’s all fun, too! So, today I had a party. It’s open through the end of the week, but so far sales are at $197! My hostess program is a SHOT at $100 and I’m going to write about that in the near future.
I met some new ladies and visited with my friend the hostess. It was so much fun and I am so happy I have tomorrow off because I am going to sleep most of the day. My chronic fatigue is flaring up like mad. I can’t complain, though. I’m being productive!

Web Hostess Ideas

Thank you, to Pink Bren who emailed me these great Web Hostess emails! Pink Bren, I’m sorry for not responding. For some reason the first email you sent was in my spam. It’s not in spam anymore! ;) Feel free to use these and/or moderate them to make them your own! (more…)

Easy On the Go Idea

Mineral makeup and hostess gift

This is a great idea for taking the new mineral products with you on the go! The current hostess gift (March 16, 2008 — June 15, 2008) will hold one display tray, all six mineral powder foundations, and two compacts inside! It is easy to travel with and you can show the products easily. The new display trays are impressive, I might add. I never invested in the older ones. I am happy I got a couple of these!

This idea was shared by an Executive Senior Sales Director at one of my meetings in April. The beauty of this idea is it not only displays the products, but you are also promoting the current hostess gift. This can be used to do on the go appointments and also makes a great booking tool. I am going to be carrying it with me to work and just out and about. Of course I will keep you posted on how it works for me. If you decide to try it, too; please share your experiences and results!

Coaching is the Key

Having trouble getting appointments to hold? You may need to give your hostesses more coaching. I’ve found that when I give my hostess expectations she is more likely to take me seriously. It’s easier to coach people who are strictly customers than it is to coach friends and family members; at least it is in my experience. People who have met me after I signed my agreement take me much more seriously than anyone who knew me before Mary Kay.

So, here’s what I do: (more…)

It’s a Numbers Game

1525r-81502.jpg We’ve all heard that selling is a numbers game and numbers never lie. I never fully understood this. It drove me nuts. Especially when I booked 13 classes in one month a couple years ago and of those 13 classes, 3 held!? I was really discouraged. My first thought was that numbers game just plain doesn’t work! But looking back on it now, it does. And then, a few weeks after that experience, my director did a little demo with a deck of cards that made absolute sense. (more…)

Get On The Phone

istock_000001325492xsmall.jpgI’ve been having trouble getting on the phone to book. So I’ve compiled some different booking approaches I’ve heard over the years. These are approaches that can be used as games of sorts. Sometimes, it’s helpful to make a game of an undesirable task (sounds very Mary Poppins, doesn’t it). These are some tactics I’m going to try to see if it helps me get on the horn and get some bookings! :) (more…)

So Where Do These 30 Faces Come From?

Now that we’re planning to achieve a Power Start, we have to get started. Where are we going to find all these faces? Simple! We’re going to become Master Bookers together. :) In order to master the art of booking we must be able to sell ourselves and the products we represent. The key to selling anything is getting out of the house! So, step one in finding new faces is get out of the house!

Here are some ideas from the conference call for how to get those faces: (more…)

What a Power Start Can Do for You

images1.jpeg

This comes from a conference call I was on with future NSD Heather Carlson. She gave some great training on how a Power Start each month will launch your business! The main point to stress here is numbers never lie. Therefore, first and foremost, we should have a faces goal each month. Even if team building/directorship is not your ultimate goal in MK, you should still have monthly goals. If you don’t have a goal and a plan, you simply won’t make money. I hear a lot of people in my area say, “if you aim at nothing you’ll hit it every time.” Have a goal. Have a plan. Be willing to work the numbers.

The first thing to remember again is numbers never lie. What we do in this business is put the product on faces, sell the products, and possibly move up in the process if we choose. (more…)

Open House Tips

images.jpegCan you believe it’s already September? Christmas shopping is just around the corner! In Mary Kay, that means it’s about that time of year when we hold holiday open houses.

With Open House Season practically upon us, I thought I would share some tips and ideas for holding one. I myself have not yet held my own holiday open house, but I have collected some great tips from my director’s senior. (more…)

Baby Step Booking

OK. I’m coming out of the shell I’ve been living in since April. Life is a little bit brighter. I feel OK about pursuing my business again. This Tuesday I will be attending my first unit meeting in at least 2 months. I am excited about this. Now I can finally pick up the purse I earned in June! (more…)
