Alright. I’m ready to make myself accountable. :) Here are some goals:

    Short-term:
    1. Sell $300/week.
    2. Hold 2 classes/week.
    3. Book at least 5 classes per week.
    4. Have at least 10 appointments scheduled at all times.
    Long-term:
    1. Since I’ve made the top ten in sales this year; Let’s make it Top Five next year!
    2. Queens Court of Sales. (Why not? I’m aiming high)

    That’s a good start. :)

  2. mkrules says:

Ok, you know mine, but here goes anyway since I can’t sleep! LOL

    Short term:
    1. Book 6 a week to hold 3 appointments.
    2. Interview 15 a month to add 3 to 5 new team members.
    3. Start working out regularly!
    Long term:
    1. Get my free car by Christmas.
    2. Lose 15 more lbs.
    3. Be a director by no later than June 1, 2008!
  3. shadesofpink says:

OK. I have a NEW goal that I posted on some other blogs, but not yet on my own (DUH!). So, my NEW goal is to do a POWER START–30 faces in 30 days–in September. Now, so far, I have 0 faces done. I had to postpone my double facial. I’ll see how close I come!

  4. mkrules says:

Mine is short term to do a PS also, by Oct 14th.

  5. shadesofpink says:

Alright, it’s accountability time! It’s one week into October. Time to post the October goals:

My retail sales goal is $2000. That is a huge number. The most I’ve sold in one month was $1600–not bad. it was in 2004. I may be rusty!

My faces goal is 30–Power Start! I think with a goal of $2000 and 30 faces, reaching one warrants the other. Don’t think I could do that without seeing 30 faces. :D

  6. sabrina says:

My new goal is to consistently book “5 by Friday” (appointments or interviews) and get 5 new leads each week…whether through referrals or warm chatter. These two are my weak spots!

  7. shadesofpink says:

    Excellent goal, Sabrina!

My unit has been challenged to make 35 calls this week–they can be booking calls, calls to team members, or interviews. 35 calls to 35 different people. It to follow the call 5 per day plan. I am going to see how this goes!

  8. Jeni says:

My goals this week, is to go downtown in the business district, walk into offices and give postcards, telling them I am a new consultant , and offer them a book with the samples I have stapled on them.

Then, the items that I have shrink wrapped , to look more professional, I will carry in a basket , and show all the girls in one of the doctors office’s.

That should keep me busy, and since I will be going where there are business’s, I can call them up, and ask to speak with the receptionist that I gave the books to.

I am making a huge mailing in and around my neighborhood again, and am putting up my MK banner in front of my house. Hope I can do that.

have a great week all, with love, Jeni

  9. shadesofpink says:

Those are some great goals, Jeni! My goal is to have at least 4 guests for my meeting this Tuesday. :D

Be careful if you are putting a banner in front of your house. Some cities don’t allow signs for home-based businesses and I also believe MKC may take issue with this as well. Some alternatives to consider: a pink mailbox (my husband actually suggested we do this, but we haven’t yet), paint your front door red or pink (I know of someone who did this), put some other decoration on your front door such as a wreath, MK decal on your car (your car will be parked in front of your house). Just don’t want to see you get in any trouble. ;)

    Best wishes!

  10. ilovepink says:

I have been really struggling lately with how I want to work my MK business. So, of course I have been having a little session everyday and praying about it.. Well this has been going on for about a week.. last night when I got home from school I had an email for my director.. She had choosen me.. Anyway, I have a meeting and a conference call with our National tonight. I am so pumped so..

    My goal….. DIRECTORSHIP!!!!!!

I am pumped and so ready to work..

  11. shadesofpink says:

That’s great, ilovepink! We are here to cheer you on and answer any questions you may have. ;)

  12. Shades of Pink says:

I’ve come to a realization about the way I’ve been going about my goals. I think I’ve been making goals that I can’t really wrap my mind around. They are tangible enough. I wrote about it here.

My new goals are going to be based on actual items sold. So, instead of blindly saying, I’m going to sell $2000 retail in March, my goal for March is to sell 20 Miracle Sets. That’s something I can see. It will make it easier to approach the large retail sales goal by giving it more definition. :D

  13. sabrina says:

    Ok, new month new goals.

This month I’m stepping back and taking some baby steps forward. I haven’t held a facial or SCC in nearly two months, (Ugh, its embarrassing for me just to say that…) so I gotta kick my butt into gear!!

I want to focus on bookings first, so I’m going to be calling all of my customers starting this week, and I hope to have 5 bookings by friday!!! From then on I just have to work hard to keep at least 5 appointments in my books at all times. After I get those bookings in my datebook I’ll start to work on my sales goals. Does that sound like a reasonable plan? Any suggestions?

  14. Shades of Pink says:

Sabrina, that is an excellent plan. :) Don’t be embarrassed about anything here. I have not held an appointment in a few months either. Sometimes, life just happens and that is one of the things I love most about Mary Kay. When life happens, we can tend to life first. Focusing on bookings is definitely the place to start for your goal. Let us know your results at the end of the week! :D

  15. BeePink says:

    Hello everyone,

I havent done any MK since christmas. I have to get going before the year is up.

I would like to be consistent, and be a star every quarter. I have never been one. I would also like to build my customer base to 1oo. I mean like 100 basic customers. I dont really have more then a couple right now.

I need to get out and talk MK to everyone. One of the hardest things for me right now is being a mom of little ones, I find it hard to have my face on at all times. I havent had it for a while and then I dont talk MK.

    But no more excuses.

  16. Shades of Pink says:

Hi BeePink, it’s good to see you here. :) I know exactly what you are talking about. My problem isn’t so much outward appearance holding me back (sometimes it is) as much as it is about attitude. I think I need an attitude adjustment! lol

Building your customer base to 100 is an excellent goal. You can do it! :D

  17. Jennifer says:

Hey ladies! I just wanted to say hi and introduce myself. I think this is a great blog so far and I might like to start posting now and then.

To be fair, my goals (I have big ones!) are to do 48 faces each month, with 6 new team members, and to submit for DIQ by June 1st. :) I did do two Power Starts the past 2 months, with last month being 40 faces. So it is do-able… just gotta keep the momentum going! It’s been a lot of fun - lots of new customers.

My NSD is Allison LaMarr - I see you have her listed on your fav list!! She just had a baby boy. :)

    Talk to you soon!

  18. Shades of Pink says:

2 PS months in a row! That is awesome! My goal is to do a PS each month. Those are some awesome goals. And thanks for sharing about Allison LaMarr. :D

  19. Sally says:

Hey, all of you beautiful women…

I just ran into your blog because I was Googling for bridal show info. I am an executive manager with Park Lane jewelry… and my team and I are working 700 leads of women that are getting married before 8/15!!! Do you believe it?!?!?

Anyway.. I wanted to applaud all of you for the goals you’re setting, the honesty you’re displaying , and your commitment to moving forward.

So I might not be one of your “pink” ladies.. but just know I’m in your corner!

Wishing you all the best! Sally

  20. Pink Lady says:

Ugh. I NEED to set some goals. I started MK in February and have only done one party and one double facial. Six faces in all. I also just had to buy a fuel pump for my car to the tune of $800.

SO my goals this week are:

#1 open my mouth and actually do some warm chattering. I’ll be taking dd to the Mall play area tomorrow and handing out cards to other moms.

#2 Get a new attitude. Mine has been stinking so bad lately that everyone in my extended family is avoiding me. I might need medication for this one (lol).

#3 Make at least enough to cover that fuel pump by (ick, wimp-out comming) mid-June.

#4 Finally get my 30 Faces in 30 Days done! This starts over tomorrow.

Everyone sing with me now, “I’ve got a new attitude”.

    Kim

  21. Shades of Pink says:

LOL–my director has that song on her UnitNet site! Those are excellent goals, Kim. I know what you mean, too. My attitude has been less than upbeat, too. I’m getting adjusted and getting on with it!
A Power Start is the best goal you can have. If you can achieve a Power Start, I’m sure you can achieve just about anything. I have yet to do a Power Start myself. I just keep on trying. One of these months I’ll figure it out! :D Best of luck to you! You can do it!!

  22. Pink Bren says:

Shades…How did you do your power start? I want to know how women are doing this. I haven’t done one although I want too I just want to get some insight on this also. So any info will be good. Thanks for the info in advance.
    Brenda

  23. Shades of Pink says:

Hi Bren, I actually have not achieved a power start, but I’ve come close. When I did it, I booked as many classes as I could. My goal is to achieve my first power start in June. I plan to achieve it by booking away. My new approach is to have classes at my home an option. I think a lot of people are intimidated about having a class at their house.
My director did her power start in 4 days. I need to find out what the heck she did!

  24. Pink Bren says:

Well, when you find out please let me know. I know I have said this before, however I want to get this up off the ground. I have one class that is going to happen as soon as school is out. I have a teacher that is going to host it. I have made my list and was going to start calling this weekend well then I thought about it and being a holiday weekend I thought I would wait until tomorrow. I want to try and be a productive Director by the time that school starts. I want my hubby home from Iraq however we don’t want to go back in pay if you know what I mean. My oldest twin made mascot for her school and I don’t him to miss out on this. So that is my motivation, and however is praying on this site please do so for our family that I can get this going and do it ethically. So that is what we are looking at.

I have had facials at my house never a class however when just one person wants it I tell them to come on out. And they do. I can see why they don’t want to have people come to their house because they would have to clean and everything. Well have a Blessed day.

  25. Shades of Pink says:

I’ll be sure to share. ;) I understand your reason completely. I will pray for your husband’s safety and for your success in your business! :D

  26. Jennifer says:

Shades…How’s the powerstart coming? Why don’t you spring off the pedi idea. You could tell people you’re offering *free* pedicures for the month of June. They could use the products for their feet. Then you can say “See how wonderful your feet feel? Your face will feel like that. Why not book a class with your friends. You’ll get 10% off your pedi products if you get 3 friends to join you!”

Think of people that are on their feet, daycare workers, hairdressers, nurses, mail carriers, grocery checkout people, those women that spray you with perfume when you walk through the mall, moms!

    Just an idea.

  27. Jennifer says:

Or you can do both at the same time. Get ready for summer with a complimentary facial and pedi with the girls! ; )

  28. Jennifer says:

Better yet…book a facial get a free pedi with it!

  29. Jennifer says:

They don’t know it’s already free.

  30. Shades of Pink says:

I have a hostess plan in place. I’m using Kathy Helou’s suggestion. I’ll share it soon. Also, you don’t want to have a facial and a pedi. That’s overwhelming for the consultant and the customer. Best to focus the appt. on one particular set. SCC’s for Skin Care; Glamour Classes for color; Pedi Classes for Satin Hands/Private Spa; etc. I’ll explain better in a future post. Your ideas are great! Just gotta keep them centered. ;) Have a great night!!

  31. Pink Lady says:

Doesn’t it go something like, Facial then book Glamor off of Facial, then book Pedi off of a Facial? Has anyone ever had it work out like that? BTW, I suck. I haven’t done one thing I sais I was going to do. Tomorrow is a new day! Think positive!

Pink Bren, I will keep your family in my prayers. I was a military wife. I undestand a little how you feel. My brother is off to Afganistan next month. Please keep him in your prayers, too.

    Kim

  32. Pink Lady says:

Sorry. It’s late. That should read, Glamor off of Facial, then Pedi off of Glamor. Said, not sais. And understand, not undestand. LOL. I shouldn’t type when I haven’t had a good night’s sleep.

  33. Shades of Pink says:

Yes, I think you got it right, Pink Lady. :) I think it is good to have options for the people you’ve booked before. If someone new wants to start with something like a pedicure, you can do that, just offer a gift to her if there are facials/SCC’s booked from the pedi. ;)

  34. Pink Bren says:

Kim…your brother will diffently in my prayers.

  35. Pink Bren says:

OK… I did a web party letter and invitation and sent it out last night at 10 so I don’t know how it will go however I will report it. If any of you would like a copy of it please e-mail me at bdungan@marykay.com and I will be more than happy to send it to you. Have a GREAT DAY.

  36. luv2tch says:

My goal is to firm up dates with the 2 ladies who want to have a party and then try to book more from those parties. My main problem is asking people to host parties for me. I did the Perfect Start (I think that was what it was called) 15 people in 10 days or something like that when I first became a consultant. That was how I got most of my customers. Most of them were facials–I find that most of the people I know are too busy to book parties at their house. I’d love to have them at my house, but my dear hubby has not totally committed to MK:) My director is going to begin using a local training center this week. So I hope to book some people for facials on the night of our meetings.

One of the speakers I heard at career conference urged us to try to do a power start every month.

Pink Bren, good luck with your goals, and my prayers are with your family and your husband.

Kim, prayers for your brother also.

My nephew was in Iraq about 2 years ago. And my friend’s son is there now. I cannot express my appreciation for the men and women who serve and for their families who sacrifice!

  37. Pink Bren says:

Thank You. I sent you the email invites so feel free to use them andpass them on. Mine didn’t go all that well however I won’t give up and I am going to do one before school. Thank you for the prayers we can use all of those we can get. Hubby is good. Well have a BLESSED DAY

  38. Shades of Pink says:

luv2tch, those are excellent goals. :) And congratulations on your Perfect Start! That’s awesome! As far as booking parties, a good way to improve your results is to not use the word “party” when booking. Offer a free trial. When you book from classes, tell them they can have glamor 50% off at their appointment when they buy Time Wise today. (My NSD uses this to book classes and so does my director’s senior director)

A Power Start monthly is definitely a good goal to strive for. This has been my goal for awhile now. I get pretty close some months. I have missed by 2 or 3 faces a few times! But, even if you are not hitting 30, I suspect you will see more faces than if you didn’t have a goal. ;)

Bren, sorry your web party didn’t go over well. I’m going to write a little about silent hostess options. A girl in my unit has 8 out and next week I think she is going to report her results. It has been awhile since I’ve tried silent hostess, but maybe I’ll try this approach.

For now, my goal is to sell $300/wk. We’ll see how it goes. ; )

  39. Shades of Pink says:

OK. My Applause came today and I am IN LOVE with the RED patent leather bag! I think I need to focus on selling BIG TIME! And in case you don’t know what I’m talking about, it is the Ruby Star prize this quarter.

  40. luv2tch says:

Thanks for the idea about the 50% off glamour items. I did achieve the goal of contacting the two women who want to have parties. One will have her party week after next and the other wants to try a web party.

Haven’t ever done a web party so I’m excited to see how it goes.

  41. Shades of Pink says:

Excellent, luv2tch! Can’t wait to hear how it all turns out! :D

  42. jennifer says:

I need to hand out my Look Books and get some new leads. Scarey thought. I guess my goal is to be brave. ; ) Jumping back in is scarey but my attitude will determine my success. I will be successful!

  43. Pink Bren says:

Jennifer…Yes it is scary, however I was driving by a church the other day and on their sign it said this, Fear is something that has not been Prayed about yet. So we always have to have Faith. I have the MK Words of Wisdom calender and today July 29th the quote is “FAITH”, “When hope seems to have faded away like the sun behind a storm clound, we have our faith to cling to, and faith has always been the silver lining that shines through the darkest thunderclound. Faith keeps us strong. Faith keeps us focused. Faith means we never have to five up regardless of the odds that have been stacked against us. For faith always rekindles hope anew.” So just keep the faith and you can do this. Have a Great Day

  44. jennifer says:

    Thanks Bren! ; )

  45. Shades of Pink says:

Bren those are some awesome words of wisdom! Thank you for sharing!

OK. I have some huge goals for August. *deep breath*

    -$3000 retail sales.
    -30 faces (Master’s Program)
    -15 interviews (Master’s Program)
    -2 new team members
    -2-3 appointments each week

How am I going to do this???!!!

    -call customer base
    -call leads
    -meet some new leads
-get my cards set out in public

I really want to start the year off right in sales. I want to be a Ruby Star. I need to get crackin’! September’s coming!

  46. Jenni says:

You can do it. Just take one step at a time. I’m here for you.

  47. Shades of Pink says:

Thanks! We’ll keep each other going for the goals!

  48. Shades of Pink says:

My $3000 retail sales goal is still a ways off, but still very doable. My strategy is to break it down to $200 daily! That’s a lot, but it can be done. I have calls to make! :D

  49. Pink Bren says:

Shades..mine is doable too. I have to get on that phone also. I don’t know why that freaks me out so much. I just need to do. I think that with all the postings I have been doing is getting me ready for the phoning. I got busy at work yesterday and was not able to call so tomorrow will be the day. Today I don’t know what happened I did other stuff…so I am going to get working and thinking outside the box. Have a GREAT EVENING

  50. Shades of Pink says:

We can do this, Bren! I have calls to make tomorrow, too! Good luck and have a great night!

  51. Jeni says:

Shaaaaades, it has taken so long for me to find you…yes, I have been busy, but that is no excuse. I am so glad to see all of you!

New News! Not only am I a consultant for MK, but also for the “other company” , starts with A. Yes, I know.

What I really need is some help with setting goals. It may be easy for all of you, but for me it just makes no sense. I hand out books, I leave brochures on door knobs, I almost always have books with me when someone notices that I am with MK or the “other”. I always get a positive reaction to either one. I was posting on MK rules, I think that is the site, and was asking about goals.

How do you go about setting goals though? Really, this is no joke, I just don’t know how to do it. I order lots of books, and hand them out, with samples, and a business card. I know how many I must order, and what to put in them, meaning samples, but for setting a goal for $$$ is silly to me. I want numbers of men and women calling me for orders and re-orders. 2 times per week, I would like to hit the streets to show and sell. To me those are not goals, those are just advertising tools that I must do to get my name out there for business. I also thought about having my store open for business in my home. ( I have 2 living rooms, it has its own entrance, etc.)
The other living room houses my tv. lounge chairs, my macaw, my cockatoo, and my movies. It is just my living quarters for me to train my birds, and just hang.

Shades, can you help? I would truly appreciate it. Thx, Jen

  52. Shades of Pink says:

Jeni, I had a whole response for you and then my dog just went berzerk! Then I went to bed (it was after 11). I think I’ll write a new post just for you. ;)

  53. Jeni says:

I loved your e-mail, and thank you. Shades, I am unable to get on your website without the pass word, and I forgot it. Do you have it? If so, can you send it to me, or how to I get back on? Help?

    You are one cool lady!
