Great Holiday Booking Idea
- September 20th, 2008
By popular demand, I’m sharing this great booking idea for the holiday season! This quarter my unit is doing a really great contest for our customers. It is a calendar model contest. We did this last year in conjunction with Corporate’s national model search. Basically, we are asking women over 18 to enter our local Calendar Girl Face Model Contest. Our goal is to have 200 entrants. From these 200 we will choose 12 to be featured in the calendar. The calendars are desk calendars by Vista Print. We will use one mother/daughter duo for May to honor Mothers’ Day. Continue Reading »

Quarter One is Done; What Will You Do in Quarter Two?
- September 16th, 2008

Today begins Quarter Two in our fiscal sales year. How did your first quarter go? Did you track your goals? Did you hit them? How close were you? This last quarter was the first one I tracked in a long time (or ever). My goal was Ruby Star. I missed the goal. I did not Star this Quarter. I could dwell on that and get down or I can focus on what I actually did accomplish with my efforts. I’d prefer to stay focused on the things I did do. Continue Reading »

Milestone for Mary Kay, Inc.
- September 13th, 2008
Today marks the 45th anniversary of Mary Kay, Inc. In 1963 Mary Kay Ash invested $5,000 to build her dream company. There were 9 independent beauty consultants total. Today, the company has grown to over 1 million consultants in over 30 markets worldwide.
I’m just curious if anyone has done anything for their customers in honor of the anniversary? Today I held a skin care class. I did not have a chance to contact my existing customers, but I plan to get in touch with them tomorrow and offer them a special bonus in honor of the company’s anniversary.

Pockets of Time

Somewhere on another post I was asked by MKheart how I fit my business into my schedule around my full time job and my life. I didn’t get a chance to answer there so I have created a new post. It is rather postworthy, after all. I just made up a new word.

Got Guests?

Since I’ve been on a bit of a hot streak in bringing guests with me to my meetings lately, I thought I would share a little on what I’ve been doing. To be perfectly honest, I’m a little shocked myself. In the past, I have not had this much success in bringing guests. What I’ve been doing differently has made a phenomenal impact on my confirmation and attendance rate.
So what have I been doing? What’s getting these guests here? Who are these guests? Where are these leads coming from? I know, there are so many questions to be answered! In fact, over the years I was asking these very questions to myself as I would watch other members of my unit come week after week with guests while mine were not coming at all or I just had no one to ask. Part of the problem was my own self esteem and confidence. I didn’t really believe that I could find people who wanted to come with me. It was a little deeper than that, though. It was kind of a feeling of why would someone want to be my guest? I was making it very personal which was silly now that I look back on it. By personalizing it, I’m making it about ME. It’s not about me! It’s about them! Continue Reading »

Retiring In Style

This morning I was commiserating a little bit with my director. She wanted me to leave my J-O-B early because I have guests for our meeting.
Yea, right; leave early from the job that wouldn’t grant me two piddly days off for the Breast Cancer 3 Day. What’s worse, one of my superiors has a relative with the disease! No kidding. So, The 3 Day came and went and I worked. I didn’t make the $2200 minimum donation requirement, but I was going to work as a Crew Member instead. So much for that experience.I digress. I will not divulge much more about the day job other than it will be a blessing to resign from it and replace the income with my own MK buisness. My director said I should pull up a pink rocking chair next to hers. What do you think?

Happy Labor Day

Wishing all of you a restful Labor Day weekend. Mine was pretty laid back; although I did have some laboring to do in the way of housework! I did get a lot accomplished in housework and in Mary Kay. Today I got on the phone a little bit and I have four guests scheduled for our event tomorrow night! During my lunch break tomorrow I will make a few more follow up calls and see what I end up with!
Hope you all had an enjoyable holiday!

The Big Picture
- August 29th, 2008
Recently, I’ve talked about affirmations and goals I’ve mentioned time after time after time. Now it’s time to see the big picture! The big picture is really your “WHY.” I just had this AHA moment the other day. It just kind of hit me in the brain as I was driving to or from work. Yes, I guess my mind wanders on that thirty mile commute! I was thinking about how we always hear about having a “why” for doing this business. I could never come up with one. Continue Reading »

My friend Jennifer at Ringleader has honored me with an award. I am flattered. Really, this wasn’t necessary.
I’m blushing now! I’m so happy I met her in the MK Groups on MySpace 2 years ago. Can you believe it’s been 2 years??!!

There are rules for this award. I am to nominate seven other people! OK, so here are the official rules:
- Put the logo on your blog.
- Add a link to the person who awarded you.
- Nominate at least seven other blogs.
- Add links to those blogs on your blog.
- Leave a message for your nominee on their blog.
So, I am nominating the following outstanding women of the beauty consultant community today:
- Pink Bren is going to go far in her business. She is dedicated and has a lot of business savvy as she owns her own salon.
- MK Heart has tons of enthusiasm and is excited about her business!
- Pink Biz has a great blog filled with inspiration. She is an experienced consultant be sure to check her out!
- Miss 3 H advocates health, happiness, and holiness. Her blog is dedicated to a balanced lifestyle.
- Pink Renegade helps other women starting a home party plan business. She’s a beauty consultant with a lot of information for those of us taking advantage of the internet.
- Angie has been very supportive and a good friend for about a year now (a year!). Her blog is all politics.
- Mercedes is a consultant and a teacher. She’s going through some trying times and I’m thinking of her lots. Thanks for reading, Mere!

Anatomy of a Goal

“People with goals succeed, and those without goals fail. Define your goals. Then write your goals down along with a specific plan for accomplishing them. Break the long-term goal into a series of little goals, each attainable with a specific timeframe. As the saying goes, ‘You can eat an elephant one bite at a time.’” –Mary Kay Ash
For better understanding of goals, let’s break it down. I’m going to use an example. I think it is a good example and everyone should have this particular goal. The numbers can be different. What I am doing is breaking down a Seminar year sales goal into pieces.
I’m going to dissect my Seminar 2009 goal. Here is the breakdown: Continue Reading »
