Power Quotes

A friend of mine enjoys sending me quotes of the day through email. I have decided to share them here. I will post them daily as she sends them. There are times she misses a day or two, but I will do my best to keep this updated often.

It has been awhile since I have received any new quotes from my friend. I’ve subscribed to some quote of the day emails, but so far, no emails have come. I’m asking for YOUR help! If you have some great inspirational quotes, feel free to post them in the comments here! :)

    When there’s something you need to do, something you know you have to do, you probably resent it and fight against it, and think up excuses for not doing it. It may very well end up not ever getting done. By contrast, when there’s something you want to do, you’ll be busy thinking up all sorts of great reasons why you should do it, and you’ll do whatever is necessary to get it done. That’s a big, big difference.

    There’s a fine, but very important, line between the things you need to do and the things you want to do. That line exists in your mind and is controlled by your attitude. And guess who is in control of your attitude? You are!

    So what do you need to do that you really don’t want to do? Have you been putting it off? Have you been busy thinking up excuses for not taking action? Well, do you want to move your life forward? Then try this simple exercise. Whatever it is you’ve been putting off, whatever it is you’ve been avoiding, tell yourself you want to do it. Instead of saying “I have to” in your mind, say “I want to” out loud. It’s as simple as that.

    When you starting thinking of it as something you want to do, it will get done. And what a powerful difference that can make in your life!

    Is there something you know you need to do, but you just don’t feel like it? If so, you can either avoid it altogether or you can force yourself to do it even though it goes against your feelings.

    But there’s a much less stressful, much more elegant, effective way. You can simply change your feelings on the matter.

    After all, they are your feelings and they’re under your control. And a great way to take control of those feelings is by putting them into words. For example, I feel like waking up a half hour earlier tomorrow morning and taking a walk. Or, I feel like swimming fifty laps this afternoon.

    It seems deceptively simple, yet it works. You can change the way you feel just by saying so. Repeat it silently to yourself with enthusiasm, or say it out loud to yourself, or even better, to someone else. Then watch your actual feelings fall solidly and authentically in line.

    If you don’t feel like it, that’s no problem because that’s something you can easily change. Start saying you feel like it and before long, you will.

    Why would you ever want to get even with someone who has wronged you? By very definition, getting even would mean lowering yourself to that person’s level, and what would be the value of that?

    In fact, there is no value in getting even. Any attempts to do so simply perpetuate and increase the harm that has already been done.

    Instead of putting your time, your energy, and your resources into getting even, put them into moving beyond and moving ahead. For wouldn’t you rather be getting ahead than merely getting even?

    If your efforts are wrapped up in getting even, you’re allowing your life to be controlled by those who have harmed you. That’s certainly not what you want.

    Forget about getting even, and put your focus on moving steadily and confidently ahead. That will put you in a far better position than you could ever hope to reach by merely getting even.

    I’ve been feeling down and out lately and haven’t been working my business much at all. I’m the first to admit that I don’t do as much as I could. I happened to sit down at my desk tonight and read the quote of the day from my desk calendar and it really is relevant to how I’m feeling and it gives me some renewed hope:

    It spoke to me because I have been all of the above lately: discouraged, cynical, despondent; rushing around with no real plan or purpose. I need to get over my fears and just do what needs to be done. Now why can’t I just do that?

    Shades…I have been feeling that way too. I know that we have to get on track it is the getting that has been the problem. And then you know sometimes I just think should I continue and then I get the answer and someone will call and order. You know it is fear that keeps us from doing things. The thing here is that if we just get over the fear you know they can’t take anything away from us. What I mean by that is that are we afraid that they will reject us because most don’t want to be rejected.

    I truly believe that if we believe in this product and we are not pushy we can do this. I know that it is easy and usually when people put on the makeup they love it. We just have to make a plan. I was listening to John Hagee yesterday he is a preacher and he was saying that we sit and think of the things that we need to do and we know that is what we need to do however don’t do it we will be in the same place that we are at this time next year. He said to take that leap of faith and just do it. Just get out there and do something. When there is a desire in your heart you need to act. So…I have been praying about it and it is time to start acting and start asking for those bookings. I really need to get it going and start making that good income so that I can get out from behind the chair at my shop. I have a bumm shoulder and it has been increasingly getting worse.

I know it is hard however I believe that is what has to be done. I think that it would be wonderful to be able just to work this business. Well I will step off my soap box. You have a GREAT DAY.
