Seminar: Day 1

Today was Day 1 of Seminar. They conducted the opening General Sessions for everyone. What is really great about this time around is that I’m in the arena! This is actually a fluke. Enrollment is lower than past years so there is room for all of us to fit in the arena this year so I don’t have to sit in Hall A. What a treat! My seat is higher up, but it’s really not that bad. I’m off to the side, but I can see the stage clearly. I’m close to the stage, just higher up. My back isn’t against the wall, either. The seats aren’t uncomfortable. They are typical theater seats if you ask me. I got some great pics with my phone and with my camera. What was really nice was that my friend had an extra seat by her because her husband didn’t attend the General Session so she said I could sit in his seat for the second half of the day. Her seat is close! She’s not on the floor, but one level up which isn’t bad at all.
Today the top NSD’s gave speeches. They were all quite good. I am partial to Kathy Helou, of course, but she really was amazing. I can’t even begin to recap here that would give her justice. She was just amazing. I don’t typically buy the Seminar DVD’s, but I’m going to get this year’s when it becomes available. Gloria Mayfield Banks led us in song: “Man in the Mirror” by Michael Jackson. How fitting.
Seminar opened up with Cassie LeBeau singing Someone is Me live! That was pretty cool! For anyone not familiar with her, she was on American Idol. I don’t keep up with Idol enough to know which season she was on or how far she got, but I know she was on it. I’m also not sure what her MK connection is, but I’m sure she has one. The National Sales Directors made their entrance and did their traditional kickline. That was fun!
After the opening, David Holl, our CEO came out and made some fascinating announcements. First off, he announced that the sales force has reached two million members world wide! That is huge! He also informed us that $6 million was given away in prizes to consultants and directors last year. That, too, is impressive. Other announcements made throughout the day were that Beauty Consultants are now eligible to access InTouch on their BlackBerry smartphones and iPhones! The site you can do this at is http://mkitgo.com. My senior director actually told me about this site a couple months ago, but when I tried to access it I got an error telling me my account was not eligible. I was so sad. I figured only directors could do it at the time. Now I can do it, too! hehehe
After lunch we received a mystery gift from the company that we were not allowed to open until they told us we could. My friend and I figured out what it was beforehand. We kinda cheated and I kinda figured it out anyway. It was a sample size of a brand new product not yet available until September. That was our “party favor” to promote the new theme “Party with a Purpose.”
I’m having a far better time this year than I did in 2004. There are several reasons for this. One being the fact that my director is here with me this time. Another reason is it feels absolutely wonderful knowing that my sales production paid for this trip!

Stumble It!

Shades I am so glad you were able to sit in the Arena this year. When the economy gets better MK is going to make a rebound. I dont think that recruiting went down I just think people coming to Dallas and taking trips is down. MK went through this one other time in the 80s when the ecomomy was bad so this is nothing new to them. Im glad you had a good time.
I’m positive recruiting’s not down. Recruiting is up according to Dateline.
People just aren’t traveling as much right now. I’m not complaining. I’m thrilled I was in the arena! It was awesome! I’m making sure I’m there next year. I’m going to be a Four Quarter Star this year! I’m tracking Court of Sales, too. I’ve got month 1 down. If I sell enough to order $800 wholesale per month, I’ll hit the court of sales easily. If I hold five parties per month I can accomplish the sales to support the goal. In July I had 2 great parties and made my goal! Having built my business over the last 6 years has helped me get to where I am, too. It was great. Very inspiring!
Shout out to Shades!!! This is off topic but telling me to use Garnier Fructis was the best thing you could have done. My hair didnt change that much when I used it for two months and at the third month it was growing and its much healthier and this stuff makes your hair shine. Thanks Shades for the heads up it does help your hair to grow!
Aw, glad it worked for you, Colleen!
