Local Unit Awards Dinner

After all the opening Seminar festivities it was time to get ready for our local Future Area Awards Dinner. This is when our unit gets recognized for our accomplishments such as our unit’s Queens of Sales and Sharing and our Miss Go-Give Award. To be honest, I liked the food served at this dinner much better than the food at the dinner last night. Last night’s dinner made me a little ill. :( Tonight’s was better and the dessert was an excellent pecan pie! Yum!

We had some training with dinner tonight and that was cool. We had recognition, but most of all it was nice because it was a smaller group so it felt like a group of friends gathering. I got to know some directors who I’ve been around before, but they didn’t really know me because we’re usually in larger groups. Now they might sort of remember me. Well, they will because I’m going to be doing more with my buisness this year anyway. And it’s OK if they don’t remember me because it’s not that deep. Anyway, my two friends that traveled with me were the Queens of Sharing and Sales for our unit. I am very humbled to share that I was voted Miss Go Give for our unit. My director gave me a very pretty pair of earrings which coincidentally match a brooch I got for donating to the Mary Kay Foundation (formerly the Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation). Now I know what I’m wearing with my gown tomorrow night for the Awards Night!

I found a shawl downstairs at the vendors that is black pashmina and my brooch can pin that around me. I’ve been freezing in the arena and in the banquet halls in the hotel. The a/c is killing me! Last night one of the sales directors (who happens to be a doctor, yep, that’s right, an MD!) offered me her special director’s shawl becuase she saw me shivering! So sweet of her to do that! So after dinner tonight I learned that the vendors were open until 11:00. I went down there and found a Pashmina scarf in black for my gown as well as some self sealing cello bags from My Girlfriend’s House that I can use for my parties!

It has been a full day and a very rewarding evening. :)

Sounds like a very positive experience this time Shades! I never did get time to go to the vendors.. UGH!!! I wanted to so badly, but by the time I had time, there was no way to get there from where we were :( Oh well… all the vendors I needed to go to have websites ;)

I just wanted to stop at My Girlfriend’s House because the nicest thing about getting to the vendors at these events is avoiding shipping costs. ;) It wouldn’t have killed me to miss it, though. I did need a shawl, though. I was *freezing* in the banquet halls and in the arena. I’m a freeze baby and I think my underactive thyroid magnifies that.

I totally understand! One of the vendors (she is a friend) was bringing something specific for me to Seminar and I never got near the Hyatt to pick it up… I have to wait until she is back home and then pay her to ship it to me :( Oh well! And I know what you mean… I had goosebumps all over my arms, even in my director’s suit because it was so cold in the arena (and everywhere else I went)!

Oh, I know what you mean! I had on a camisole, a long sleeved blouse, and my blazer in the arena and I was absolutely freezing! lol I was comfortable on Day 2 in my classes. Those rooms were quite temperate.
