Postponements and Perserverence

This weekend was booked pretty solid as of Monday. Saturday I have to work the day job for a few hours then I’m working a Mary Kay booth at a job fair! I’m excited about this. I’ve done a lot of booths, but this will be my first job fair! Then, after my 90 minute “shift” I’m going to check out the other booths since I’m in the market for a new day gig. I figure I’ll peruse the fair and maybe drop some resumes. It can’t hurt.
After the fair I had a party scheduled and then I also had a spa day scheduled for Sunday. On Monday, my hostess for Saturday emailed that she had to reschedule. Then my other party is also postponed. This is disheartening, but not devastating.
Sure, it’s devastating at times to have bookings up on the schedule only to have them postpone, or worse, cancel. I used to kind of fall apart and have a pity party, but I don’t do that anymore. Now what I do is work through it.
When I found out my appointments were postponed, I immediately got in touch with the hostesses to reschedule. One definitely wants to aim for June. The other did not specify so I told her my remaining availability for May. I’m waiting to hear back.
In the meantime, I finalized a third booking and it is scheduled for next Saturday. I have some other pending appointments that I am going to also follow up with. Not to mention I have 70 or so brides I need to get busy scheduling! How can I be down with so much opportunity all around me? Not to mention the people who have requested appointments! That’s right! Some people have actually sought me out for makeup tips, weddings, etc. So, in spite of the minor setbacks this weekend, I have much to look forward to! I can’t wait to blog my first job fair experience!

Stumble It!

You should start double booking! This way when you have a cancellation you have a back up!
You’re doing great! Just keep moving.
Oh yea, I plan on that. I meant to write that, but it was the middle of the night. Perhaps I will edit.
I have always been scared to double book. But I also hate cancellations and postponements. How does double booking work?
Hi luv2tch! I have always been leery of double booking myself, but if you consider postponements and cancellations, double booking makes complete sense.
Hope that helps!
Basically, when you double book, you can book for the same time the same day, or just close together on the same day. If both classes hold, you can dovetail to someone on your team. They get the new customers and sell the product and you get 15% of the profit.
You are probably right. When I think of all my classes that have cancelled, I definitely would very seldom ever have to dovetail. I’m thinking if you could hold 2 classes at your own house then if they both held, you could just do them together.
I love selling MK. But cancellations I really do not like!
