Just Playing with Color

I’ve been playing with the color quad GWS from last year. In case you don’t remember, it consisted of Silky Caramel, Lemongrass, Amber Blaze, and Denim Frost. This week, mk4me posted pics of her daughter’s prom makeup over on Balanced. It inspired me to try something. (more…)

Lashes & Lunch

Here is a fun event idea that units have been doing where I live. It’s been mainly my director’s unit and her senior director’s unit, but we have a lot of fun with it and guests LOVE it! We call it Lashes & Lunch. These events are typically held on Saturday mornings from 10:00 - noon. Guests get an indepth eye color class. We begin with brief skin care followed by mineral powder foundation or liquid if it is preferred. Then, we have a licensed beautician teach a fun application class on, get this, false lashes! As cheesy as false lashes might sound, you would be surprised at how fun people think it would be to try them! (more…)

Satellite Education Events

Back in February, I attended a new form of education being implemented by Corporate known as Satellite Education Event (SEE). I can’t believe I didn’t write about it here! It was quite good! I got a local buddy to ride with me that Saturday morning. It was held on Valentine’s Day of all days, but no matter. I wasn’t doing anything at 11:00 that morning and it was something new. Basically, corporate was broadcasting live, via satellite to 200 theaters across the nation. The event was to run from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. CST. In case you missed it, I’m in the Eastern Time Zone so that was 11:00 a.m. here. ;) There was one broadcast so those on the West Coast had it kind of rough. They had to be there at 8:00 a.m. What troopers! (more…)

Comments are Fixed!

Good news! I figured out how to retrieve your comments and was able to put them each back on the site! My comments were not stored because I’m usually logged in when I post them, but that is OK. I improvised where necessary, but just left most of mine off. I’m just happy I can put everyone else’s comments back on here. Yay!

Technical Difficulties

There was a glitch on the blog earlier today. The site was down. It turned out to be a glitch in the server transition. Today was the official switch from server 1 to server 2. The problem is fixed now, but everything I wrote since April 7, was lost. Thankfully, it was still stored in Google Reader and cache. I was able to repost what I’d written; but unfortunately all the comments were lost. :(

Hopefully, that will be the last time this happens. Many apologies to those who posted comments.

Same Colors; Different Technique

After sharing my way of applying the Urban Bazaar eye look, I decided to go to my website and check out the recommended application of  this look. It’s a lot different! To be honest, I don’t like how it looks on me. Not that it’s wrong or bad; I just like to see more of a blending of the colors. The description online is more of a way of lining the eyes. There are a couple of looks done this way lately. It’s a new trend. I’m not sure it’s a trend I’m going to follow regularly, but who knows. I have to decide what look to try next! (more…)

Get The Look: Urban Bazaar

Urban Bazaar

I’ve decided to try the different eye looks featured in each issue of The Look. Today I’m featuring Urban Bazaar. I’ve been wearing these colors for a few days now and I really love how they look. I used to think Navy Blue was too dark for me, but when blended properly it’s not that dark at all. (more…)

When the Economy Serves Lemons…

Today I worked a booth at a much anticipated job fair. I am sad to report it was pretty much a bust. The event was scheduled from 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. I arrived around 1:30 after working at my day job. I’ll be honest, even the selection of potential employers was unimpressive. Everyone was either direct sales like myself or they were schools. I think the schools were there to recruit students rather than staff. That was a double whammie for me because I had also hoped to pass some resumès out to some potential employers. (more…)

Postponements and Perserverence

This weekend was booked pretty solid as of Monday. Saturday I have to work the day job for a few hours then I’m working a Mary Kay booth at a job fair! I’m excited about this. I’ve done a lot of booths, but this will be my first job fair! Then, after my 90 minute “shift” I’m going to check out the other booths since I’m in the market for a new day gig. I figure I’ll peruse the fair and maybe drop some resumes. It can’t hurt.
After the fair I had a party scheduled and then I also had a spa day scheduled for Sunday. On Monday, my hostess for Saturday emailed that she had to reschedule. Then my other party is also postponed. This is disheartening, but not devastating. (more…)
