Catching Up

The past couple of days I’ve been trying to get caught up with my business. I was also enrolled in some classes at the university for recreation. I’ve decided to take some items off my plate so the classes had to go. Instead, I’m going to stay focused on my business and avoid any activity that might trigger the CFS bug. I started things off by meeting with my director last weekend to go over goals for the new year. She helped me to break them down and modify them to work with my current lifestyle. Some of my goals were a little too large for the amount of time I’ve able to put into my business.

One of my goals was to see 30 faces each month. With my work schedule, health, and home life; my director suggested I focus on 15 faces each month for right now. She said I could break that down to 4 faces each week. This would be about 16 faces each month and I can still make my sales goals. It also takes some pressure off and it has been easy for me to hunker down and get on the phone! :) So far, I’ve left a lot of messages, but that is OK. I have lots of people on my list!

I’m happy to report that it is getting much easier and more comfortable for me to call my leads as well as my existing customers. My mindset is different than it used to be. I call when my mailings go out to confirm receipt and to see if they are in need of anything. I also remind them of specials such as birthday discounts. My goal is to be consistent in working with my people. As the days and weeks go by I will be reporting my progress. :D

The other project I’m working on in my business is the infamous Brain Book. My director has one and it seems to be keeping her on track. I’ve been faking organization for years now. While it’s nice that people around me think I’m the picture of organization; this fake it til ya make mantra isn’t really working because I don’t feel organized! So, it’s time for me to get real and get organized! I’m not entirely sure where to start with a Brain Book. I have a binder and I have my Weekly Accomplishment Sheets and Weekly Plan Sheets in it, but I need to get my lists of contacts in there, too. I get kind of buried in the paperwork of business and that’s not a good thing. I guess I shouldn’t say I’m not organized. I’m just not organized in the keeping track of paperwork sense. I’m one of those people who has it all stored in my head. That’s not the best practice because my head has been known to fail me from time to time!

Another thing I’m doing is getting all of my customer info into InTouch so I can access it on my computer at any time. So, when someone asks me what that “eye thing” was she bought one time in 2007 I don’t have to sort through all my paper slips. I can go on the computer and see what she’s purchased. It’s going to be a harrowing process, but I’m ready. I do enjoy data entry; believe it or not! :P

So, I must get back to work. After all, I have a lot of catching up to do!

Great post Shades! The brain book may be the right tool for you ;) I know for me, it became just another place to put the papers I wasn’t going to use anyway!LOL Other categories you might want to make sure you have in there: Company contests (keep a print out of what is required, where you are), Unit Contests, CALENDAR~~probably the MOST important piece in there…. so you can see what you need to do when!

Hi Shades! Happy New Year! I originally designed my Brain Book according to the .pdf descriptive file I was given. Then I fine tuned it a few times over several years to meet my needs which serves me very well now. I have to be organized or I simply cannot function. No kidding! Less stress because the essentials are all in one place. Open the binder and I can function in this business. Best thing I ever took the time to do was to put my Brain Book together. Then my Car Office after that. I really couldn’t survive without either one.

I think you’ll love your BB when you have it all together and working for you. It will save so much time hunting for this or that. I found it nuts to live like that! I had to implement the BB or go even more crazy-hahaha! Best to you. Yes, keep us posted and great idea about updating info on Intouch. I did that too but find that I still get behind with it. Guess I need to delegate time daily to get ‘er done.

Thanks for your input on Brain Books! I am going to get that organized this weekend. Last weekend I fell asleep a lot. I’m still tired this week and I hope it passes.
Pink Biz, great to hear from you!

Same here Shades! So glad you post when you have the time. I really enjoy your topics and style of writing. Heck, I’m just so glad you maintain an active site, and I enjoy the “real” feel you bring to it, both MK and personal. I may not visit as often as before, but I still appreciate your being here. I’m working on 100 faces in 100 days. My goal is to earn a Career Car. Using my BB is keeping me focused. BTW, I use a zippered binder because I can close it at day end as well as transport it anywhere as needed. Hope you get to feeling better and acquire the needed rest. It’s good when we take care of ourselves.

    Hugs!

How wonderful to get a notice that you’ve posted something! I’ve missed you!

Just want to add my wishes for success as you pick up the threads and begin stitching the business in place again.

Your Brain Book sounds interesting….hope that will work out for you.

Since the new year, I’ve started a new blog called Perfectly Pink, so the MK stuff on my other blog has been transferred into my new pink blog.

Come and see when you have a minute.

PS. Forgot to mention that my other blog (on your blogroll)is listed as A Word From Home ….. it’s still up and running, but no MK stuff is on it now.

  7. Shades of Pink says:

Thank you so much, Pink Biz!

Hi Brenda! Thank you so much for your encouraging words. :) I’ll check out the new blog right now and add it to my blogroll. Of course I’ll keep your other site in there, too. The Beauty Consultant Community blogs are simply sites by consultants whether they are MK related or not. ;) Thanks for sharing!

Took today off from MK. Needed a little more ME time. Hanging out at home being lazy and it feels good to have some down time. Pampering myself is a sure fire spoiler! Although a Career Car will not appear in my driveway while I’m eating bon bons on the couch-LOL! Back to work tomorrow. I can do this!

  9. Shades of Pink says:

Nothing wrong with a day to yourself. ;) I need to get back on the ball tomorrow, too!

  10. Colleen says:

Great to hear from you, Colleen! I’m rootin’ for the Steelers, too! I grew up in Browns’ country, but my family is all from the Pittsburgh area. Go Steelers!!! :D

  12. Colleen says:

They won they won!!!! My Steelers won! What a game!

  13. Shades of Pink says:

Yes! That was quite an exciting game! A nailbiter to the end. So happy it ended with a Steelers victory! YEA STEELERS!!! :D

  14. Colleen says:

Shades have you seen the new MK commercials I saw one this morning since its snowing here in MD and I didnt have to go to work. They are nice show very professional looking women

  15. Shades of Pink says:

I’ve seen the one about signing up and think it’s very good! I’ve only seen it online. I’m typically not home during the day unless I’m sick in which case I’m in bed or online (no noise). :P But, you are right, they are nice and the women in them do look very professional. :)
