Happy 2009 everyone! I know it’s the middle of the month already, but I’ve had a very busy start to the year. This weekend was nonstop and it was all about my business! It feels great to be back in action. I kind of put everything on hold while I gained some stamina for the new year. I knew this weekend and days leading up to it would be hectic and I needed to have the energy. So here’s what I was up to.
It began Friday evening with a local retreat. The theme was The Wizard of Oz and the directors were so creative in making the decorations and working their training on Wizard of Oz topics and symbolism. The primary focus was having courage and overcoming fear. It was also our Quarterly event during which we recognized our Star Consultants. Two good friends of mine were honored in the courts. I need to catch up! This year I will do it. I’m very focused. It’s all in the focus. The event lasted overnight and there was a horrible snow storm. I had been sick on Friday and made the drive. It took about an hour and a half. Normally, it takes an hour, but a 30 minute lapse isn’t so bad. Saturday was worse weather, but we all made it to and from the event safely. There were units there from New York! The training was phenomenal and I took many notes. I will share soon!
The next item on my agenda was a huge bride show that I booked back in September or October. I coordinated a group of us to work the table. It was stresful getting everything prepared and organized, but in the end it was a very good event! We worked in shifts. The middle shift saw the most people while the morning and afternoon shifts were more scarce. I do think we talked to some very lovely people and there will be a lot of potential. I was fortunate enough to speak with some of the models from the gown fashion show. One girl I spoke with told me that her modeling agency has been pushing for her to use Mary Kay® products for awhile now. She just doesn’t know anyone who sells it. Well, I told her she does now!
Finally, this streak of MK event madness ended Monday night with my NSD coming to town for a Cadillac party. She is going to attend every party for first-time car drivers and all Cadillac achievers this year. I want her to come to my party! One of her directors earned her 11th Pink Cadillac recently and the party was Monday night. I had a guest. One of my former team members is thinking about signing a new agreement. She also never had the opportunity to see our NSD in person before so she wanted to check it out. Time will tell what she decides. It was fun and we had a good time.
Now, I have leads to work with, customers to call, and it’s time to get down to business!

Stumble It!

Shades glad to see you posting. I have been on the back burner also. I am going to school and I need to do both. This semster I am going to get my Instructors license for cosmetology and then I am going to try and get a job at a high school. I can do an internship (and get paid I might add) at a high school for one year and then I will have my BS in Occupational, Development and Training. So that is what I have been doing. So I am still working my MK just not as much as I had been, however, it is all good.
Have a GREAT DAY
Bren
Awesome post Shades
You know I am definitely looking forward to reading your notes from the events!
I know it was stressful, and crazy, but wasn’t it worth it in the end?????
Bren….Congratulations on the choices you are making~~helping someone else is definitely up there on the good job scale
Great job on the model. Glad the bridal fair was a success!!
Hey everyone! Thanks for stopping.
Pink Bren, great to hear from you! Best wishes in your programs. SCM, it was totally worth it! I’ll know just how worth it once I call the ladies. I am very optimistic about most of the people I talked to.

Hey Darla! Great hearing from you, too! So glad you stopped by. I think the fair was a great success. There were a couple of glitches, but nothing is perfect.
Shades~
It is SOOOO good to hear from you!! I too have been out of the loop on my MK Business and blog and I think it is contagious.
Thanks for the jumpstart. I really need it. I still service my customers and all but other than that I have been at a stand still.
