It’s time for this week’s edition of Fight the Frump hosted by Mrs. Fussypants’Blog. Each installment will have a list of different things I do to keep myself feeling sassy.
Since winter is coming and I hate thet cold; feeling free and easy and sassy is a challenge. Every day I want nothing more than to throw on some sweats and snowboots and head out. Now, because I work in an office setting, this is just unacceptable. I tend to feel my best in a sleek skirt and some sassy shoes, but that’s just not practical in the snow. What can I do to accommodate? Hair and makeup! Woo hoo!
The first step to fighting the frump is to have a fresh face! I do my skin care routine daily to avoid breakouts and to keep myself looking and feeling young. My favorite skin care line is Mary Kay Time Wise Miracle Set!
So, I think I’ll just show my favorites in a picture list:

This is the Miracle Set. It consists of a cleanser, moisturizer, day solution with SPF 25, and a night solution. I wear both the day and night solutions during the day. The night solution has acne-fighting benefits.
These items are a must if I get oily. The Blemish Control Toner eliminates the occasional zit and prevents new ones from even thinking about popping up to say hello!
The Even Complexion Essence helps keep me feeling smooth and keeps discolorations at a minimum. It keeps those pesky freckles under control!
Moisture, SPF 20 protection, and a little color!
My favorite foundation! Goes on easy and quick and covers better than a liquid! This is the final touch for a polished look. I don’t feel a need for color makeup as long as I have on my foundation.
When I do this routine in the morning, I am ready to face the day and feel frump-free! I know, I’m a little biased because I’m a Mary Kay consultant, but let me just say, I don’t rave about the products just because I’m a consultant. I became a consultant because I am so impressed with the results of using these products! I did look too young to vote during the primaries! ![]()

Stumble It!
I must be the most basic human to ever live. In the morning I wash my face with Timewise and put the purple stuff on my skin. The normal/dry moisturizer is making my skin flaky due to the approaching winter. Even if I use the moisturizer and the purple stuff I get flaky. The purple stuff works and my skin still looks great.
Since I’m never going to get old, I don’t use the day/night. Although I do see tremendous changes in my skin when I do. I also get very few, if any break outs. I get less when I use all the products.
I do have to say that I have used other products and none have given me the results MK has. If I do get off my lazy butt and use them all my skin looks fabulous.
Last, I have found the best way to Fight the Winter Frump is to throw your clothes in the dryer before you get dressed. This way you have something warm on before you head out into the cold. If your clothes are *too* fancy to throw in the dryer, through your nylons and your undies in. This way you are warm in the good spots. LOL
Oh, I was first!
Hey Jenni, since you are experiencing flaking with the Oil Free Hydrating Gel, have you considered trying the pink one? That would be the Intense Moisturizing Cream. I even use that from time to time in the dead of winter. I don’t use it all over; just in the areas that flake. You might also want to switch to the Combo/Oily Age-Fighting Moisturizer because it does not include alcohol in the ingredients. The Normal/Dry formula does. I’m allergic to the Normal/Dry formula (good thing I have combination skin!).
I love the dryer suggestion. I do that, too! There’s nothing like putting on clothes fresh out of the hot dryer. Mmmm snuggly! LOL
Ah. I thought the Combo had the alcohol? The purple doesn’t cause the flaking. The moisturizer does. That’s why I switched. What I really need is the microderm. I need to exfoliate. That would help. I also need to drink more water and relax. ; ) Thanks for the suggestion.
Surprisingly the dry skin formula contains the alcohol. Someone explained why to me once, but I don’t remember real well. Something about it controlling the amount of moisture by evaporation of the alcohol. I’m allergic to lotions that contain alcohol. They make my skin red and itchy.
