Today marks the 45th anniversary of Mary Kay, Inc. In 1963 Mary Kay Ash invested $5,000 to build her dream company. There were 9 independent beauty consultants total. Today, the company has grown to over 1 million consultants in over 30 markets worldwide.
I’m just curious if anyone has done anything for their customers in honor of the anniversary? Today I held a skin care class. I did not have a chance to contact my existing customers, but I plan to get in touch with them tomorrow and offer them a special bonus in honor of the company’s anniversary. ![]()

Stumble It!

Hi Shades,
We had a Beauty Brunch today.
Unfortunately, the weather in our area, while nothing like Ike, was, in my words . . . Tina. It rained so terribly, that I had some flooding and couldn’t make the brunch. My guest, however, did (as her basement flooded and she needed to get out for health reasons), and my sister consultant’s carried on for me!
In the middle of the event, the consultant at whose house we held the brunch, began to get some flooding in her basement. Thank goodness the brunch was upstairs!
My Director worked with 4 women, while the host consultant joined her family to help in the basement.
It was crazy - but all the women were so glad to be at something fun on such an ugly day.
And my sister consultants made the sale for me.
How’s that?
I think that’s excellent, Cuppa Jo! That is one of the great things about this business. You aren’t alone.
There is a girl in my unit who had several guests for an event and then she was unable to attend because her child was sick. Her guests were taken care of!
The weather here was bad, too. Lots of rain. I didn’t take inventory with me to my appt. because I didn’t want it getting all wet. We’re in for more rain, too. The rain and storms of Ike are headed this way (of course we’ll just have rain and storms all the way up here in Ohio). It’s going to be a wet September.
Thanks for visiting!
I sent out e-cards through marykayintouch to my customers offering them 13% off of their orders till the 16th in honor of Mary Kay’s anniversary.
Great idea, Kathleen!
Shades..I am just curious to know how your party went on Saturday. I know you said that it was suppose to be pretty big.
I posted this under Round of a Applause, but here’s the recap:
Total Sales = $294
New Bookings = 2
New Faces = 4
Company Info = 1
Basics Sold = 3
Miracle Sets Sold = 1
Referrals = 16!!!!
I had 4 guests total. Nine were expected. This was an excellent turnout for four people. And I actually had two interested in more information about the company so I will be talking with the other girl soon. Both booked future appointments.
