This morning I was commiserating a little bit with my director. She wanted me to leave my J-O-B early because I have guests for our meeting.
Yea, right; leave early from the job that wouldn’t grant me two piddly days off for the Breast Cancer 3 Day. What’s worse, one of my superiors has a relative with the disease! No kidding. So, The 3 Day came and went and I worked. I didn’t make the $2200 minimum donation requirement, but I was going to work as a Crew Member instead. So much for that experience.
I digress. I will not divulge much more about the day job other than it will be a blessing to resign from it and replace the income with my own MK buisness. My director said I should pull up a pink rocking chair next to hers. What do you think? ![]()

Stumble It!
I’d leave if MK can give you want you want and keep your income at a good level. Pull up that pink rocking chair!
LOL! Thanks, Michelle! I’m on the right track. I think I will match my current income within 6 months and surpass it within the year (or sooner)!
That sucks that you couldn’t even get off of work! Shame on them! (((HUGS)))
Thanks, Mere. And thank you for your contribution. I really did appreciate that.
Yea, they said they could give me it off, but it was very disappointing blah blah blah. I didn’t want to deal with the ridiculous office drama that goes on here so I just sucked it up. Blech! But, my MK future is looking pretty bright.
Shades…I think that you are doing wonderful and I can see that you will make your goal. I am so proud of you and I can see you getting the FREEDOM that you want and deserve. Have a GREAT DAY. Oh one more thing I think that you will make a wonderful DIRECTOR!!!
Bren
Thanks, Bren!
So will you!
If you can leave your job to pursue Mary Kay - Do it!! Go for it!
Pull up that pink chair!!! You deserve it! Trust me I understand the whole financial obligation thing but as long as you can make ends meet the rest will fall into place. I don’t know what your J.O.B is but MAN they need a reality check. That is horrible that they would not let you take off for the 3-day breast cancer walk.
So I am curious….how did you August end? Mine was not so hot as you can tell by my blog but it is a brand new month.
Best Wishes with you J.O.B
Veronica, thank you!
MKheart, My August sales goal didn’t happen as planned, but I signed a new team member and I did 6 new faces. I have more potential team members, too. It’s kind of funny, I focused on faces and selling and built my team up. I have another team member signing any day now.
Oh, and August may be over, but the Quarter still has 12 days! I have a class on the 13th and I am working on more guests to my meetings. It will be interesting to see where I end up.
Good luck, MKheart, remember, it’s not over yet!
Shades of Pink - sounds like you had a great August! May I ask how you get guests to your meetings? I will attend my first meeting on Sept 16 and I was just curious how guests feel about the meetings.
Veronica, it can be hit or miss with guests. What I have done lately was call some leads I had from a fair booth I did back in July. Many of them are people I don’t know so as a comfort measure, I invited them to our events at public locations so they can be more comfortable than having a stranger come to their homes. It has been working well these past few weeks!
Another guest I recently invited was someone who needed a new consultant and a friend had given her my card. The first time we met she had ordered her cleanser and moisturizer and wanted to meet in public. She wanted to try some samples so eventually I mailed her Firming Eye Cream samples and some color samples. I also sent an invitation to our meeting (I have been using the MK invitation postcards). I called and left her a message to confirm. Not having heard back from her, I was surprised to see her at my meeting last week with her sister!
Some things you can do to make it worthwhile to them:
1. offer some type of gift for coming. I put together a little cello bag with my card, a candy or two, and sample.
2. Offer them something more if they have a friend join them. I have been offering 50% off if they bring 2 friends.
3. If they ask what to expect tell them they will get a free trial of MK products and see what it is you are doing (this will work if you have friends and family who are curious about your new endeavor).
My guest last night was one of the people from the fair booth. She had postponed her own class twice and told me to call her at the end of August. So, I called her Sunday or Monday and asked her if she was up for our event (I thought maybe it would take some pressure off). I had already sent her the postcard invite so she knew what I was talking about. She wasn’t sure she would come. The last thing I told her was that she could learn more about a part-time MK career. On the survey she filled out for me at the fair, the last question was, “Would you be interested in learning more about a full-time/part-time MK career opportunity?” Yes/No. Something to that effect. She had indicated yes, on the part time level. Again, I wasn’t positive she’d be there, but she was. She had a good time. She brought 2 friends and they booked a class and bought some lipsticks. It was a good night.
Shades, you definetly have the touch! WOW!! I wish my business ran that smooth. How do you make all those phone calls and such when you work two jobs which obviously are not that flexible? I am the worst about getting on the phone. The women for your booths, do call them about a skin care class or send them a postcard? Or do you invite them to a meeting first? I am just absolutely floored. I guess because…I work 1 full time job which is pretty flexible for the most part, and I have a three year-old but I also have a very supportive family, and I seem to get nothing done Mary Kay wise. Before I know it the month is almost over and I have accomplished nothing.
How do you keep a relationship with your team members? I have struggled with that in the past.
Shades~~That is awesome! Thanks for spelling out how you get guests (and giving specific details). I think that is the most difficult aspect for most consultants ~~and even for me, as a director! I know we tell the consultants that in order to make sure they have guests at the meeting that they need to pick them up, but I have to be at the meetings early to set up… I love the fact that you send out an invitation and the guests show up!
Keep up the awesome work and great BIG kudos to your director for her encouragement and training!
