The Big Picture

Recently, I’ve talked about affirmations and goals I’ve mentioned time after time after time. Now it’s time to see the big picture! The big picture is really your “WHY.” I just had this AHA moment the other day. It just kind of hit me in the brain as I was driving to or from work. Yes, I guess my mind wanders on that thirty mile commute! I was thinking about how we always hear about having a “why” for doing this business. I could never come up with one.
A lot of directors say their “why” is their family or, more specifically, their children. I could never think of a “why” of my own. It seemed like I couldn’t narrow it down to just one thing. Then I thought maybe I just didn’t have a big enough “why” and that was the reason that I hadn’t moved anywhere in my business (which is probably pretty accurate). This is dumb, but I felt undeserving to work at home because I’m not a parent (yet). I think it was because I was young and single when I started my business and everyone around me had kids.
As I’ve been constructing my goals and my affirmations I now realize why I want to succeed in my business and why it has become more imperative to do so. My why is quite simple. It is freedom, but freedom is a lot. It is the freedom to work from home and make my own schedule. It is the freedom to be at home when I decide to have children. It is the freedom to be able to start taking some dance classes again because I’ll have the energy to do it as I won’t be beat up from my day job. It is freedom from being tied to a rigid 8:00 to 5:00 routine. It is freedom to have more time and energy to give to my husband. Finally, it is freedom to claim my household as mine and be here to take care of it (even if that means by hiring of a maid
).
So, here is the big picture; my vision if you will:
I will sell $3000 in retail per month every month. I will accomplish this by holding 2-3 appointments each week selling $750-$1000 weekly. There is no stopping me because I am confident in my ability to reach out to others and offer what I have. I know not everyone will want it, but I am looking for those who do want what I have. As I prosper from my sales my team will grow. They will look to me for leadership and guidance because I am setting an example to follow. By achieving my sales goals I will reap the benefits of having more free time and making my own schedule because I will be selling enough to replace my full time income. As a result, I will be home more and my husband and I will be happier.

So, that is my affirmation. I keep it basic. It’s long, but basic. I can see myself doing these things. In the past, I didn’t have this kind of a vision. What’s your big picture?

Shades,
I had my own “Aha! You too?” moment when I read your comments about your why being Freedom. That basically is my own big picture.
The freedom to be at the centre of my home, writing from home (right now I write a monthly newsletter for some MK directors in my local area (Alberta, Canada).
The freedom to come and go at my own pace… and not be on someone else’s timetable….that is a strong motivator.
So thanks for the reminder… Brenda L.
PS. I love your blogsite. I’ve link to your feed so I remember to visit often.
Very nice. Good for you!
Great post and great affirmation. The freedom to stay home and schedule your day as you wish is priceless. To be able to do it before you have kids is even better! I am so looking forward to hearing how you achieve your goals.
Brenda, hello and welcome! Thank you for the compliments. I’m happy that you love the site.
Thanks, Petra!
luv2tch, I will certainly keep you posted.
