Tonight our unit had a potluck dinner at my director’s house instead of a regular meeting. We did this to go over last year’s accomplishments and the new year’s goals. We were asked to bring our goal posters if we had them. I found this to be the perfect opportunity to grab my magnetic dry erase board and get that put together again. It’s an effortless goal poster. My director and friends had really nice posterboards with pictures and such pasted to them. I am not so good with glue. I love that I can just move stuff around and not have to throw the whole thing out and start from scratch. How very…green? (more…)
What keeps your customers loyal to you? How do you ensure that another less scrupulous consultant won’t be able to swoop down and take customers right out of our customer base? The answer is customer service. If you build a strong relationship with your customers and listen to their needs and wants; they won’t dream of buying their products from anyone but you. (more…)
This information was on InTouch the other day. Since our inventory arrives via UPS this is very good info to have. Because everyone who visits isn’t a consultant, I’m sharing it publicly because anyone who receives orders via UPS needs this information:

This week for Fight the Frump with Fussypants I’m talking about the dreaded eye shadow crease! You all know what I’m talking about. You apply your eye makeup pristinely in the morning and by noon there is a thin line of color amid a bare patch in your eyelid crease. It’s unsightly, isn’t it? I have some suggestions that will make that problem history. (more…)
This comes a little late in the month, I know. July is the start of the new fiscal year and in MaryKayland, that is also the start of our Seminar contest year. Every year we talk about new goals and getting a fresh start on the new year. In the past I’ll admit it was all fun and games and everything kinda went in one ear and out the other. Yes, I made some goals, but I didn’t see any urgency so I didn’t really go for them. It’s been just about five years since I signed my agreement to take up a new hobby. Back then I just wanted a hobby and didn’t see any reason to pursue my business any further than that. There is nothing wrong with that. I think this is how many if not most consultants get started. I think that is fine. It allows freedom to work how they want. I’m glad for that. These past two years have made me rethink my approach to my hobby and I have decided to work the business aspect more. As I was making this transition I realized, “Hey! It’s July! The new year is just starting. What fabulous timing!” So, I have some very lofty goals. (more…)
Since it is mid-July and the heat is steamy and humid, I think it’s a good time to talk about acne prevention and treatment! In this humidity anyone can have oily overload. Last week I did and I used my typical acne routine. I cleansed, used Blemish Control Toner Formula 3, Night Solution, and moisturizer. So, the focus is acne treatment and oil control products. This is something new I’m doing. I want to read more and I’ve finally succeeded in finishing a book I’ve started! June’s book was Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert. OK, so I started reading it way back in February! I became sidetracked and pressed for time. I also realize this is not really a business related book, but I do think that in order to be at the top of our game we need to be well adjusted. Eat Pray Love is about exactly that. It’s a woman’s physical and mental journey through self discovery. She travels to Italy, India and Indonesia in an attempt to find pleasure, God, and overall balance which is mainly for her, love of self. (more…)
This weekend I decided to organize my book case a little and dedicate one shelf to my business. I don’t need a huge display because I don’t get tons of company. I have decided, however, that I would like to have some type of visual when people do stop by. Our house is remodeled and people often want a tour to see all of the work Hubby put into the house.
