Pedicure Season Has Arrived

It’s Memorial Day Weekend, and in my book, that officially begins summer. Why? Because warmer weather is just around the corner if it’s not here already. With warm weather comes sandal season! In the past, Mary Kay offered Pedicure Sets for consultants to sell to customers. Tonight I had the time to treat my feet right! I have emailed Mary Kay, Inc. about possibly brining pedicure sets back to the regular line. Until they do that (or if they do not) I would like to share some alternatives to the pedicure set that can be used to do pedicure classes.
First of all, the key to providing a successful pedicure is a good exfoliant that acts as a mask on the feet. This can be accomplished several different Mary Kay® products. The first is easy. It’s Satin Hands. The Satin Hands set can be used on the feet. You can create a nice exfoliating mask with the Satin Smoothie Scrub and Extra Emollient Night Cream. If you have older products you are trying to sell off, here are some other ideas:
- Hydrating Mask Formula 1 + Extra Emollient Night Cream. I heard this tip from a friend of mine who was once a Mary Kay director. She said she sold several Formula 1 Masks just for pedicures! I have not yet tried it on my feet, but the next time I do a pedicure, I’m giving it a shot.
- Sugar Scrubs + Extra Emollient Night Cream. This will create a strong exfoliant and the Sugar Scrubs contain a bit of moisturizer as well. It will make feet feel smooth as satin.
- The original Satin Hands & Body Buffing Cream + Extra Emollient Night Cream. This will create a mask much like the Satin Smoothie Scrub.
- Please feel free to add your own MK products that have also worked for you!
Now, I will share the steps to doing a Mary Kay® pedicure!
- Remove any existing nail polish.
- Start by soaking the feet in warm water. Add epsom salt or Mary Kay® Foot Fizzies to soften skin on the feet.
- Towel dry feet.
- Coat feet in exfoliant mask (mix Extra Emollient Night Cream with Hydrating Mask Formula 1, Satin Hands & Body Buffing Cream, Pedicure Set Foot Scrub, or Sugar Scrub).
- Wrap feet in Saran wrap. Yes, you are reading this right. Wrap those piggies up! This locks in the moisture and prevents the mask mixture from rubbing off. You may also wrap your saran wrapped feet in a towel or some comfy ankle socks. Leave them like this for 10-15 minutes.
- Remove the wraps from your feet and rinse. As you rinse, use a pumice stone or brush to help remove dead skin cells.
- Towel feet dry.
- Polish toes (if desired).
- Apply intense moisturizer to feet. I recommend Satin Hands Hand Cream, Mint Bliss Foot & Leg Energizing Lotion, Rosemary Mint Foot Balm (if you have it) accompanied by Extra Emollient Night Cream.
- Wrap feet again in Saran Wrap and socks. I would leave Saran Wrap on for 10-15 minutes and then just put socks on to lock in the moisture. Your feet will love you!
This is my version of a pedicure class. If you want to share something you do that might help us out, feel free! I am going to be offering pedicure classes at my home for my customers this summer beginning in June. We’ll see how things turn out and of course I will report! ![]()

Stumble It!
Shades what a great idea. Well, maybe MK will bring back the pedi stuff. You go girl.
Have a GREAT EVENING
Great tip! I’m doing this right now! I was going to do a pedi because my toes are sad but I wasn’t sure what to do it. Thanks.
Im sorry I have never done pedicures or had one so Im not interested..sorry Shades. I do want to say that I think its because Im afraid of doing it…LOL
LOL don’t be afraid, Colleen! Embrace the pedicure!
I was afraid of doing them at first, but around here, they are pretty popular. We hold them at our unit meetings from time to time and always have a large guest turn out. Sometimes customers are looking for a little more than skin care and makeup and if you have a deck or patio (or you have a customer that does) a pedicure class is a great way to work MK and get outside!
The Satin Hands Satin Scrub works great also…. And you can always use the Loofah Body Scrub with a pedicure. My teenager loves the Red Tea and Fig one on her feet
We have done Pedicure Parties every year I have been in Mary Kay… and most years there has not been an “official” pedicure kit;) You work with what products you do have (and it is a GREAT way to sell the discontinued products you may have on your shelf!)
I love a good pedicure!
What a great idea, Shades! I love it; thanks!
Glad you like it, kare!
SkinCareMom, I completely forgot about the Loofah scrubs! Thanks for reminding me!
Darla, thank YOU for the idea.
If you really want to have some laughs, we also do
“Scary, Hairy Leg Parties/Pedicures.” - basically you can use the Satin Smoothy Body Scrub as a shaving cream base or the 2 -1 Shave Cream and then use the cellu shape lotion or visible fit lotion on the legs - combined with the pedicures,
we buy colorful disposable razors that they guest can use to shave their legs from the knees down.
Just even the name keeps everyone laughing.
LOL! I have seen the “Scary Hairy Legs Party” plan. I’ve also seen it called “Las Vegas Legs Party.” I like the comical name!
Quick question. Do you buy stock in pumice stones, or can pumice stones be sanitized? I think a Pedi Party sounds fun, but I’m worried about being sanitary. I’m also cheap and the 99 Cent store only has one pumice stone for .99. I know, I know, what a cheapie I am, but dang, it all adds up…
Kim
When I do classes, I don’t use a pumice stone at all. I used one for myself because I have them. I would skip it for the class. I don’t know if they can be sanitized or not.
No need to be spendy. Use what you have. That’s my motto!
