The Alternative to the Open House!

Did you know there are more than 12 days left until Christmas? I wasn’t even paying attention. There are actually 13 more shopping days left. That is a lot of time and tonight at my meeting, my eyes were opened to so many possibilities that I just have to share my new knowledge!
Once a month, our unit joins 5 or 6 other units for a large training session. Tonight was the December night! I was able to train with directors I don’t see on a weekly basis. It was excellent.
First of all, we were introduced to the new Mineral Powder Foundation and sampled it on the backs of our hands. I think I like it, but I will need to get it into my possession to make a more informed decision.
Most of the info shared can be found on InTouch and Pynk Myst has the info as well. We also heard a little about the new lipsticks. The formula will remain the same, however, there will be a slight change in that the lipsticks will have a light vanilla scent. This will be similar to the scent in the glosses. I’m thinking of the Luscious Color Lipsticks that were Limited Edition items two or three years ago. They were in gold tubes. The formula was different–more moisture–however, they did have that vanilla scent! Yum!
Our next piece of training was about the alternative to open houses! Perfect! This information is wonderful for newer consultants, consultants who don’t have a large customer base, and consultants who don’t have the means to hold a large event in their own homes. The director who gave the presentation showed us what she uses. Basically, she fills a large basket with full size fragrances, small gift sets such as “Coffee ‘n’ Cream” or “Gasoline Gloves” or “Snowman Soup,” discontinued spa products (i.e. Pedicure Sets), etc. She fills a smaller basket with the mini Satin Hands, Fragrance Wands, Mineral Powder, you get the idea–smaller items.
She takes them to offices. Now, I work full time in an office, I am thinking of putting together such a basket and taking it to work with me. She says she sells quite a lot from her baskets.
Now, remember, you don’t have to have the latest products to make this basket up. Use what you have! Move old products off the shelves before January!
I thought this was such a great idea and I know I’ve heard similar things described. Many of you reading probably already do this, but there was something about the way she presented it that made it really click. I think it was the visual. I learned a lot tonight. I’m going to write several posts on the things I learned and summarize at the end. ![]()

[…] why I didn’t think of this before. I guess I kind of got the idea from the training I had on open house alternatives. I’m having a Five and Ten sale. Everything is either $5 or $10. It’s older […]
