Common Sense

I stole this from a message board. I think it makes sense. ;) I’ve seen it somewhere before–perhaps in an email. I thought it deserved reposting.

Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend,

Mr Common Sense.

Mr. Sense had been with us for many years.

No one knows for sure how old

he was since his birth records were long ago

lost in bureaucratic red tape. (more…)

Flashing Lights and Other Hallucinations

aura.jpgFor the past 10 years, I have suffered from terrible headaches that cause nausea. It was only about 6 years ago that I determined it was Migraine. The older I’ve gotten, the worse these headaches became. The only remedy for them is Excedrin Migraine (at least for me it is). I tried Imitrex and Maxalt and those did nothing but make me fall asleep and awake to a worse headache! My doctor determined the reason only Excedrin works is because my migraines, lucky me, are hormonal! Recently, I changed my thyroid medication from generic to name brand Synthroid. This brought me to a phenomenal breakthrough: my thyroid is at least partially involved with my migraines! Makes sense since they are hormonal, after all. ;) I think stress is involved with them as well…

Last night, I felt the usual beginnings of the migraine as well as the aura. I took my Excedrin as usual. It took awhile to work, however. I had to sleep with my blindfold on and even with the blindfold I was seeing the streaky lights and thought headlights were somehow shining in the bedroom–it’s in the back of the house! How ridiculous. It kept me up for hours. I don’t know what time it was that I finally fell asleep. I’m guessing 1:00 or 2:00.

This morning I’m feeling the usual aftermath of the migraine. Fogginess, lethargy, stomach issues, achy muscles, neck pain, speech problems, blah blah blah. I hate these things! I would give anything to not have a migraine ever again. It doesn’t seem that will happen. There doesn’t seem to be a cure. I have provided visuals of what my migraine aura tends to look like. 8) streaklight.jpg

1,000 Hits

I don’t know the difference between “hits” and “views,” but I’d say that’s not bad for an under-the-radar blog. ;) I’m blocking search engines because this is my blog for me and whomever happens upon it. There’s no reason to draw the masses, though.

More Motivation (I’m needing it!)

More inspiration. I’ve been kind of in a slump lately. I need all the positive input I can get! :)

Words about Ambition

by Zig Ziglar

Your business is never really good or bad “out there”.  Your business is either good or bad

right between your own two ears.

The real opportunity for success lies within the person and not in the job.

It is easy to get to the top after you get through the crowd at the bottom.

Success is not a destination, it’s a journey.

The most practical, beautiful, workable philosophy in the world won’t work—if you won’t.

Motivation is the fuel necessary to keep the human engine running.

Discipline yourself to do the things you need to do when you need to do them, and the day will come

when you will be able to do the things you want to do when you want to do them!

What you get by reaching your destination is not nearly as important as what you will become

by reaching your destination.

Motivation gets you going and habit gets you there.  Make motivation a habit and you will get there more quickly and have more fun on the trip.

The basic goal-reaching principle is to understand that you go as far as you can see, and when you

get there you will always be able to see farther.

You are the only who can use your ability.  It is an awesome responsibility.

If we don’t start, it’s certain we can’t arrive.

Obviously, there is little you can learn from doing nothing.

My director finds the best motivational stories! I have to find out where she finds these. This one was on this week’s hotling message. Enjoy! :D

17 Words That Changed My Life Forever

by Jerry Clark

I remember several years back I heard something that changed my life forever. Up until that point I had been struggling through life, doing everything the hard way. I couldn’t figure out why my life wasn’t going the way I felt it should be. I saw some people going through life effortlessly and seemingly with less tension and frustration while I was wondering if I could ever straighten out the mess my life had turned out to be. I was behind on my dreams, my promises, and my bills. Then one day I was listening to a tape and the lady was talking about the power of having dreams and goals and all of the other stuff that those motivational speakers talk about. By that point I had listened to hundreds of such tapes, but it seemed as if nothing worked for me. Probably the only reason I was listening to that one was because I had developed a habit of listening to cassette tapes while driving my car. The statement the lady said was simple and I think I had even heard it somewhere before but this time a light bulb went on in my head. I remember stopping the tape and rewinding it over and over again to hear the 17 words she said. I couldn’t believe it was so basic and simple. (more…)

Have to Congratulate!

My friend and sister consultant, Stephanie is On Target for the Queen’s Court of Sales! This is HUGE because this has been just her first year in MK! Not to toot my own horn, but someone that I recruited, recruited Stephanie! Isn’t it amazing how that works? Anyway, she is about $3000 away from the goal. I know she will achieve it. She regularly sells about $1000 per week! Yea! She works full-time and has amazing sales. Kudos go out to her and I wish I were going to Seminar to see her on the stage. She’ll just have to do it again next year! ;) Maybe I’ll do something stageworthy myself…

Know Your Product Series: Warning about Red Tea & Fig Spa Product!

My director just sent this email:

I just got off the phone with medical relations at the company and I asked them about the macadamia nuts in the Red Tea & Fig Loofah and if this could be hazardous to someone with an allergy to nuts. Her response was “when showing this product make sure you ask if they have a nut allergy because it COULD cause a reaction” I suggested that they inform the sales force right away about this before someone has a reaction and she said they are working on it due to several requests from directors. I just wanted to get this out ASAP because I am sure this is something that none of us wants to deal with.

Uh-Oh! Another Prize!

handbag_-_girlfriend.jpghandbag_-_lips.jpg handbag_-_lets_shop.jpg

I’ve done it again! I’ve won a purse! Hubby is going to love this. He thinks I have too many already. Purses and shoes! How’d I win? I worked my business consistently for the past 6 months and qualified for my director’s “Consistency Club!” She has an ongoing contest. When we consistently work our businesses and sell at least $400 in one month and replenish our inventory 6 months in a row, there is a prize at the end. So what happens if you have a really bad month? Fear not! If you have a kickass month the next time, and sell double, you are right back on track! What’s funny, is sometimes I don’t even know I’m on target for these prizes. I just work my business because it’s what I need to do to make some extra money. Then, as an added bonus, I get a gift. Yes! I like Purse #1 on the left side with the girlfriend design the best. My second choice is the purse with purses (#3 on the far right).

datebookcover.gifI’m just $50 away from a datebook cover, too. And that is something I really want. My datebooks get beat! :P I can never find one in the stores and I don’t do Ebay. But, if something happens and I don’t sell $100 in the next week (yea, right), then I will get it some other way.

Coffee…(Personally, I’m more of a Tea Leaf, but it’s all relative)

This was on my director’s hotline message this week. I thought it was very inspiring and made a valid point about how one chooses to deal with adversity:

Coffee…

from the June 12th Hotline message…A young woman went to her mother and told her about her life and how things were so hard for her. She did not know how she was going to make it and wanted to give up. She was tired of fighting and struggling. It seemed as one problem was solved, a new one arose.

Her mother took her to the kitchen. She filled three pots with water and placed each on a high fire. Soon the pots came to boil In the first she placed carrots, in the second she placed eggs, and in the last she placed ground coffee beans. She let them sit and boil, without saying a word.

In about twenty minutes she turned off the burners. She fished the carrots out and placed them in a bowl. She pulled the eggs out and placed them in a bowl. Then she ladled the coffee out and placed it in a bowl.

Turning to her daughter, she asked, “Tell me what you see.”

“Carrots, eggs, and coffee,” she replied.

Her mother brought her closer and asked her to feel the carrots. She did and noted that they were soft. The mother then asked the daughter to take an egg and break it After pulling off the shell, she observed the hard boiled egg. Finally, the mother asked the daughter to sip the coffee. The daughter smiled as she tasted its rich aroma. The daughter then asked, “What does it mean, mother?”

Her mother explained that each of these objects had faced the same adversity: boiling water. Each reacted differently. The carrot went in strong, hard, and unrelenting. However, after being subjected to the boiling water, it softened and became weak. The egg had been fragile. Its thin outer shell had protected its liquid interior, but after sitting through the boiling water, its inside became hardened. The ground coffee beans were unique, however. After they were in the boiling water, they had changed the water.

“Which are you?” she asked her daughter. “When adversity knocks on your door, how do you respond? Are you a carrot, an egg or a coffee bean?”

Think of this: Which am I? Am I the carrot that seems strong, but with pain and adversity do I wilt and become soft and lose my strength? Am I the egg that starts with a malleable heart, but changes with the heat? Did I have a fluid spirit, but after a death, a breakup, a financial hardship or some other trial, have I become hardened and stiff? Does my shell look the same, but on the insi de am I bitter and tough with a stiff spirit and hardened heart?

Or am I like the coffee bean? The bean actually changes the hot water, the very circumstance that brings the pain. When the water gets hot, it releases the fragrance and flavor. If you are like the bean, when things are at their worst, you get better and change the situation around you.

When the hour is the darkest and trials are their greatest, do you elevate yourself to another level? How do you handle adversity? Are you a carrot, an egg or a coffee bean?

When you were born, you were crying and everyone around you was smiling. Live your life so at the end, you’re the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying.

Product Changes: How to Deal

The following information was sent to me last night by my director. I think it has some very helpful information and advice where product changes are concerned. Change is good. Remember that. Also remember, that it is against human nature to want to change. Most people reach a comfort zone, but sometimes, in order to improve, change must happen–even if it’s uncomfortable or even scary. These product changes are not the end of the world or the downfall of our MK businesses. They are just part of business as usual and adjustments will need to be made. This should be very useful information:

THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION - PLEASE READ THOROUGHLY!!!

If you’ve read your Applause magazine or been on-line to order recently, you’ve noticed that our product line is making some changes. And some of the current products have begun selling out. (more…)
