Brain Fog

brainfog.jpgThis is getting so old already. Today is about the third morning this week that I have awoken to a migraine. I thought I’d found the “cure” to my migraines, but they seem to be picking up again. I don’t want to start taking Topamax again, but if this keeps up I will just have to. This one started last Friday. I do believe this is the same one, but it’s possible it’s new. I’ve had them last 8 days before. Last Friday’s migraine was primarily flashing lights and aura. This week’s migraine isn’t so much the aura, but the confusion and fogginess in my head. Migraines make speech difficult because although I know what I want to say, when I try to speak the words, they don’t make sense. So, I have to concentrate real hard and speak slowly. I feel kind of retarded when this happens and it’s embarrassing. I’ve taken Excedrin Migraine for the 3rd for 4th day in a row now. It takes away the pain, but it doesn’t take away the aura or fog. Once I feel comfortable enough to drive, I will head to work. The tension in my neck and shoulders is starting to relax. That’s always a good feeling. The migraines cause tension in my neck and shoulders. I used to think the tension in my neck and shoulders was causing the migraine, however, since Excedrin relaxes the tension, I have to think it’s a symptom, not a cause.

When I described my symptoms to my husband–especially the hallucation type symptoms–his response was, “that’s not a sickness; that’s a gift!” Yea, right. Perhaps if it were accompanied by euphoria and not pain it could be classified as a gift.

I Did It!

Last week I mentioned that I’d earned our Consistency Club prize and was very close to also earning a cover for my datebook. Well, I did it! One of my regular customers actually beat me to calling her. She needed her usual skin care! My director gave me my new cover. How nice! I’ve been wanting one forever! Now my datebook won’t get all trashed.

It may seem like I’m just being silly getting excited about a little thing like a datebook cover, but that’s not the point here. The point is, I made a goal. The goal was to sell $500 in June. The prize pushed me a little bit to actually make a larger effort. Well, I did it. I’m gaining more confidence in my abilities to set and reach goals. Perhaps I will be in the “Court” one of these years! 8)

Hooray for Rain

storm1.jpg

Last night I drove through a thunderstorm after class. I love thunderstorms. I love them more when I am home. They are peaceful and calming. Rain on the roof is relaxing to listen to if I’m lying in bed. I think they are romantic and beautiful to watch. The lightning last night was amazing. It was very bolted and lit the purple sky. Whenever there is a storm, I wish I could be at home to enjoy it.

And We Have Our Answer!

This was posted on the MK Intouch website yesterday. It answers questions regarding the macadamia ingredient in the Red Tea & Fig Loofah Cleanser. I’m so relieved to have an answer!

Published for Independent Beauty Consultants 06.27.07Product Questions?

From time to time, especially with the launch of new products, your customers may have questions about ingredients. For instance, with the recent launch of the new body care products, you may have customers ask about the ingredient Macadamia Ternifolia Seedcake found in the Mary Kay® Red Tea & Fig Loofah Body Cleanser and if that product is safe for customers with nut allergies. As with all of our products, you can assure your customers that, in keeping with our Product Promise, the cleanser went through and passed stringent testing for customer safety. Also remember, all Mary Kay® products are labeled according to industry and government regulations.

Of course, keep in mind, that when any product is introduced to millions of consumers, there may always be a small number of individuals who cannot use the product successfully for various reasons. Naturally, anyone with known allergies or ingredient sensitivities will want to review the packaging ingredient list and/or consider talking to a doctor before using a new product.

For more information on this and other product questions, visit “Talking Points You Can Use: Product Focus” found in the LearnMK section of the Mary Kay® InTouch Web site.

New Blog

The purpose of this blog is to talk MK and yet keep things balanced with regular life so one doesn’t muddy the other. What I have done, however, is created a new blog which focuses only on my “real life” encounters and has very little to do with the MK stuff.  So, if this site has too much MK mania attached to it, feel free to skip it and check out the new one. :)

Make Them Feel Important

I like this article. Where I work during the day, they are always stressing “world class service.” This concept is touched upon in here. This article stresses, “People don’t care how much I know until they know how much I care.” I’ve heard this statement over and over again in Mary Kay. It applies all the time.

The Little Things

We are all rushed and crunched for time in our world today;

therefore, anything you choose to do should be done with

your best effort or not at all. With so many

responsibilities and opportunities before each of us daily,

there is no time nor reason to be mediocre at anything.

Everyone understands the urgency of performing well in the

tasks they consider to be “big things,” but they too often

overlook matters they consider to be “little things.”

If you really analyze the areas of your life, either

personally or professionally, that you consider to be “big

things,” you will find, if you look closely enough, that

they are nothing more than a series or group of “little

things.”

You may run the best, most efficient business operation ever

known to mankind, but if your people don’t answer the phone

politely and professionally, or if they don’t invest the

time and energy to simply get people’s names right, you are

wasting your time.

Our most precious possession is our name. One of the

elements that distinguishes world class service from

standard service–whether it be business, dining, hotel,

transportation, etc.–is that the world class professionals

greet you politely, energetically, and use your name

correctly.

There is a certain group of business “experts” who believes

that in order to be successful we must practice

intimidation. While I disagree with this philosophy, there

is an amazing learning opportunity for us all within these

intimidation theories.

These adversarial intimidators would tell you that the best

way to “put someone down” or try to establish your own

superiority is simply to mispronounce or misuse their name.

The most amazing, thoughtful, meaningful, and significant

message can be diminished by a simple typographical error.

No matter how profound the words on the page may be, if they

contain sloppy errors, you may as well stamp the words in

bright red across the top of the page: “I really don’t care

very much about this.”

You’ve heard it said countless times, but it is as true

today as the first time you heard it. People don’t care how

much you know until they know how much you care. If you want

to show people how much you care, pay attention to the

little things, and you will find the big things take care of

themselves.

As you go through your day today, do everything as if it

alone will make the difference between success and failure.

You will find that it does.

Today’s the day!

Queen Treatment!

My NSD called my friend Stephanie at her job today! I knew this because Stephanie immediately emailed me and a few others afterward. She was so surprised! After their conversation, my NSD sent this email out to the directors in her area. I have deleted names of everyone:

This morning I received the e-mail and picture below of a consultant in [my director]’s unit - Stephanie ***** who COMPLETED the National Court of Sales.

I KNEW what Stephanie had in through May 31st which was: $ 22,976 in retail sales.

So - with double credit she had approximately $ 4,500 wholesale to be on the National Court of Sales.

I called Stephanie this morning to SEE what her game plan was and HOW she finished this amazing goal.

I reached her at her FULL-TIME job. :o) (more…)

Queen’s Court of Sales

CONGRATULATIONS!!! To my girl Stephanie who MET HER GOAL and achieved the Queen’s Court of Sales! All this in her FIRST YEAR of MK! Can’t wait to see her ring. :D This motivates me to GET BUSY!!

We’ve ALL Got Potential!

I just love this:

———————–

Column By Matthew C. Horne

———————–

Realizing Your Potential

Potential, in a scientific sense, is viewed as stored

energy. I view potential, in the human sense, as stored

greatness.

Your energy is your greatest asset to unleashing your human

potential. When you dispense your energy into your

potential, that potential then becomes your reality.

Potential is useless if it never becomes a reality!

Everyone is full of potential… full of ideas and dreams

that only YOU can fulfill in this lifetime! Don’t ever take

for granted the compliments from others concerning your

gifts and abilities. Often times your potential is evident

to others before you ever take notice of it.

Cultivate your gifts so your potential will thrive. This is

the most competitive era in history. Potential doesn’t cut

it, only reality!

I had a teammate in college who was an All-American

basketball player. He said “There are people in my

neighborhood who are better than all of us in this game of

basketball, but we’re here. This is a privilege.”

That was a thought-provoking and enlightening statement. It

made me ask the question: How did we make it to the most

elite stage that college basketball has to offer (Division

I), while others, with more talent and ability went no

further than the neighborhood courts?

The answer: We took the steps to cultivate our potential and

give it the right conditions for it to thrive.

If I could leave you with one thought, it would be this:

Cultivated potential is what makes it to the bright lights!

____________

This is so true! There are so many people who fail to realize their own potential. It is up to the individual to recognize what one possesses and maximize it!
